The Habs are looking like plausible playoff contenders and my hope is the 2013 draft brings a couple of working class heroes in the forms of Wennberg,Gauthier,Mantha and Carrier. An added plus could be Samuel Morin in the 3rd round or Samuel Henley in the 5th round. The really big plus would have to be the Habs having the 30th,31st,32nd and 60th picks in the 1st & 2nd rounds, clearly meaning the Habs winning the SC for the 25th time.
I believe that I read Timmins has had his eye on Laurent Dauphin. Has anyone watched him play and what can you tell me about him? Where do you think he is projected to be taken in the draft? Thanks.

Douphin should be there for our 3 2nd rounders, though he has stepped up his game the last couple months. Solid offensive center, smart solid skater and above average finish.
if we make the playoffs and finish out of the top 10...i can see bergevin trying to package all 3 of our 2nds to try and get somewhere into the top 10 or so

Looking at what's in the top 60-80 picks I like our chances of getting good players having say 5 top 3 picks instead of trading 3 for a top 10-15 pick. Unless a guy like Drouin Barkov or MacKinnon were to slide to 10, then I would probably do it but all 3 will go top 5.

I really don't think 2nd round picks will get you into the top 10, unless you are talking about moving up like 1 or 2 places. Going from 15 to 10 because of 2nd round picks...I just don't see it.
Could the Bruins be tempted to draft Jordan Subban earlier than expected in the hope of bringing PK Subban over in the not so near future? Considering the hard time Bergevin had to sign him and all...
Most of our recent picks are above 6' Tinordi Galchenyuk Beaulieu Pacioretty LeBlanc Ellis Bozon Thrower Dietz Vail Didier Nygren etc
Draft PBA and worry about size later. Do you think Phillie could trade 5'9" Giroux for a 6'4" #4-5 d-man?

Look at our potential top 6 prospects on the wings: Kid Hud, Gally, Colby, Bozon(Ok size.)
If you read the whole sentence you see that I mentioned the BPA argument... And why twist words ? It's not how you win arguments.
Imagine having Hudon-Colberg-Patches-Gally has our top 6 wingers... We lack one with size. That's why Lazar seem's appealing to me. And the trio of remparts.

Read the whole sentence, brah.
Pacioretty is 6'2" and was listed at 218lbs. Lazar is about the same size as Collberg.
I have no issue drafting 2-3 big players up front in the top 3-4 rounds, as long as we don't pass on a clear BPA.
If we can get Erne mid 1st round, you get size without "reaching" for it, the guy is a legit mid 1st and should play at 6'2" 210-215lbs. Gauthier would be another option, maybe 3-5 picks later(some have him early teens, others as late as 25).

That does not equate to 'really superior' or 'vastly superior'. It's whoever is the best, period. Although perhaps that's what you meant. Just didn't come out that way in how you wrote it.

I think he'll go out early in the 2nd or late in the 1st.

Our prospect pool is small.
It's not all about size. We need guys that play the game hard and that have skill too. For example Dauphin, he's 5'11, but he's far from scared of the traffic. Carrier is bigger and more physical, but I don't know if he has the same vision Dauphin has. Haven't seen Carrier play live yet so I can't really judge, but Dauphin was pretty impressive when he came in town.

Brah.
Granted I can see us taking a 50 point player with size ahead of a smaller player with a bit more upside(55-60 points). There will always be ~some~ favoring to a position of need.

Of course it all depends just what the gap is. For instance Max Domi, at where he will likely go, there will probably be better options still on the board for us. But the skill gap has to be small.

But what is BPA ?
Let's define it.
Because having size is clearly a quality, wich means this goes into the YAY column.
Let's say Erne becomes a 50 point player that fights, hits and has a great two-way game.
Then let's say Drouin becomes the next Patty Kane production-wise.(The good Kane.)
Wich one is BPA?
