Reading through some of the latest drama around the league -- trade Kessel! sign Subban! where's Willie Mitchell! what to do with Grigorenko! -- it makes me realize again why I devote too much mental power to thinking about Joe Corvo's D and Chad's smile.

Yeah, he was replaced by Faulk for the radio gig.

Only thing I can come up with is he's being traded or his significant other is in trouble/having a baby.

Can we trade him? Didn't think it was possible but if he's being pulled from the radio interview as well it fits... For what, though? Could we actually get a defensive dman for him? Trading him for a pick at this point doesn't make sense... I don't think he really has too much value to anyone else, a great 4th liner but unless you're the Canes you don't trade multiple draft picks for a 4th liner.

EDIT: Didn't realize the radio thing was tonight. Might be a family emergency, a random thing popped up, whatever. Still COULD be a trade, but I doubt it.

We were rumored to be interested in Weber (Montreal's) a couple days ago.

Makes sense. Montreal loves the smurfs, and LaRose has had some of his best games against the Habs. Plus, I'm sure Cole put in a good word.

Wouldn't do much (if anything) to address the defense though.

If we trade Larose for Weber I will march on the PNC with torches and pitchforks.

I wouldn't mind a trade but does that mean we expect Boychuk or Welsh to take his minutes? It's not like they'll get someone in the trade that will fill the spot (an okay Dman at best that the other team wants to unload.)

Agreed. I like Weber and if we were in need of a PMD I'd be all for it.

I'd be pumped to get Emelin from them for Larose + though... Gives us a hard hitting, tough dman, gives Semin a Russian to talk to, makes a lot of sense... Doubt the Habs would move him though.

False alarm, all is well... well except for LaRose. I know that feel bro, sucks eating something for the first time and suddenly discovering you're frigin allergic to it.

Michael Smith ‏@MSmithCanes
Head coach Kirk Muller said #Canes Chad LaRose had an allergic reaction to something he at this morning.

Well, better than losing him for Weber.

Fact of the night:

The following players...

Bowman - Jokinen - LaRose
Westgarth - Brent - Dwyer
Boychuk
Welsh

... have combined for one (1) point this season.

Nodl has been recalled from Charlotte.

I'm guessing this is a short-term replacement for Larose.

Wait, wasn't he the one that leaked pictures BEFORE it was "cool"?

Now he's got Twitter.

I'm certainly not following...

ok so not really news but I was scanning through the NHL stats and it seems our captain is tied for 4th in the league for both goals scored and +/-. he (6g), Skinner (5g), and Daniel Winnik (5g) are the only ones in the top 40 who have played less than 8 games. granted its not October, but best start he's had in a while?

another note.....we have 5 skaters (Staal, McBain, Pitkanen, Tlusty, Semin) in the top 30 in +/-. By comparison, TB has 3, Chicago has 3, Colorado has 3, SJ has 3....no one else has more than 3 players in the top 30 for +/-. now, that suspiciously looks like our top line + top pairing, except for McBain. Looking for Faulk, he is at Even while Joni sits at a +7....how does that happen? I though those 2 had been paired together since the first game (with special teams being the exception mostly). McBain is at a +3 even. Maybe i missed something, but im confused how those 2 can be so apart considering they have been on the ice together for the most part

For the past few games it's been Pitkanen-McBain and Gleason-Faulk. Those also happen to be the games in which the Hurricanes have actually started scoring (even-strength) goals, as compared to the initial fail involved when we had Pitkanen and Faulk together to start the season and scored a whopping two goals in two games.

Also, Daniel Winnik.
