When the hard questions get asked where players usually say "Uh I um don't think about that?" Jones gives them a real answer.

I wouldn't still call him an very good skater but he isn't as slow as people think. But the type of game how he plays it's more than enough. He can suprise an defender with his combination of speed and strength if they aren't ready. Look at his WJC goal at 16 that is great example. He is now way better skater. But when you look at player like Barkov he has not any major weaknesses at all so you have to pick the area where he can improve the most and it is skating. Which isn't bad as some people states. Big guys might look slower because they have longer stride. It has gone better and it will be better once his leg strength will get up and has more power on his stride. His skating style and stride are very good but his leg strength haven't catched his 210+lbs body yet.

I think that Barkov could end as great and amazing skater but not elite if he keeps developing like this and it's more than good enough for his type of player.

I'm shocked that they didn't mention Barkovs elite defensive ability. Called him an offensive player but the truth is that he is very strong two-way player and it is one of his greatest assets.

That was his top 10.

He said 2 scouts who picked Jones had Drouin #2, and one of them had Barkov #2. All who picked MacKinnon #1 had Jonese #2 I think I he said.

But what he showed at the SSS and WJC leaves alot to be desired. He either:

A) Is incredibly selfish

or

B) Really, really lacks hockey sense

Didn't see Wennberg at 11 coming!!??

Also, What does Nick Petan have to do to get a sniff at the top 30?

I don't really think that's a surprise, to be honest. He ended up 35th in this rank, but I won't be shocked if he falls even farther.

The reward outweighs the risk in picking Petan in the top 30 IMO.

Size is the only issue with him, maybe a strong playoff will help convince some scouts?

Wennberg at 11 does not surprise me at all, clearly the second best swede in this draft IMO.

I would say that he could crack top 10 very well. He was the best draft eligible swede for WJC in the games i saw.

Robert Hägg at 29 seems to be very low. This kid has all tools to be very effective player.

Frederick Gauthier is about as interesting of a pick as this draft will have. I could see him going Top 15 for sure.

Seth Jones over MacKinnon is the same Hedman over Tavares, Murray over Yakupov, Doughty over Stamkos, etc. stuff we see every year. Usually the top ranked defender against the top ranked skater is a battle that goes until the last minute when it was clear the whole time that the top forward was the right pick to make. I'll believe Jones over Nathan when it happens.

Love how they interviewed Jones after the first period with Portland losing by 2 then he goes out, gets 2 assists and was on the ice for another 2 in a 5-2 win.

I like him when he's good . He is very much up and down though, sometimes he's just terrible and a complete giveaway machine. I think his upside is high but quite often he looks really nonchalant in his own zone, like he doesn't care. I'm pretty sure there are some mixed opinions on him among scouts.

That will change if he ends up playing in Canada for his NHL career. I guarantee it.

Glad to see Hartman in the top 30. I expect him to go in the first three selections of the 2nd round (31-35), but I won't be surprised if he is a late first round pick.

Not even close.

Seth Jones will be number one, unless a team is flush with dprospects picks first. I could see Columbus going with a center instead, or maybe trading down.

On merit alone, its Jones without question.
