Good effort, but given the disarray the Avs are in right now, the win doesn't say much. But nonetheless - nice to see Lapierre and Garrison get some monkeys off their backs with strong games, for Kassian to keep potting goals, and for Luongo to get the SO.
It's soooooooooo nice to have a beastly net presence on the power play in Kassian. Kesler does/did it well, but he isn't the same presence. He's good at tipping and banging in rebounds, but not causing as much havoc as Kassian does.
Kassian also has great hockey sense. Knows when to slide from the front of the net to the top of the slot or side of the net to look for a Sedin pass.
Kind of makes me angry he wasn't tried there last year when our PP was so horrible down the stretch and in the playoffs. Even if he wasn't the same player than as he is now, he still could've parked his big body in front.

Do you think Jansen can play a similar game to Kassian?

Considering his injury history and the wear-and-tear of his general game, I'd like to see Kesler take on a less physical role on the PP. This Kassian thing is perfect timing - assuming Ryan's ego can take it.
I give AV credit for letting Kassian play on the 1st line and PP unit. And he didn't do anything last year or in the AHL to earn it - but wow, we took a chance and it paid off! What a concept.
Bleh. Won 3-0 but against a better team this would've likely been a loss. Still a lot of work to do and I'm not convinced this was a big step forward from the LA game.
They will need to bring something far better to the Hawks game.
I thought I heard on the radio that, as bad as the Canucks have been, this is one of our best starts in a few years now. Hopefully we get on a roll soon.
On this game, I thought all of the defence played well. Burrows was great on the 5 on 3 and I thought Higgins and Lapierre were coming around. The Sedins could have had three points each easily but are just a little off.
Eh, I don't think we played THAT well. We started getting better in the 3rd but I don't think this team looked anything close to being a contender.
Fair enough, and I tend to agree. Like someone mentioned before me it's not the biggest feat considering the Colorado's first line is completely MIA. I suppose one could make the argument that it sorta evens out since we're missing 2/3rds of our 2nd though.
At any rate the real test is going to be Chicago. I guess this game just made me a bit more optimistic going into Friday. Sure is better than how I felt after that sharks game that's for sure haha.

We are losing two top 6 players, I think tonight we have played well despite that. We will be on a winning streak when both players comes back, still want AV gone regardless though.
While I don't see any point in gloating over a decimated team that's obviously struggling, I will say I really liked watching them play hard right to the last tick.

They were missing their 1st line and aren't even a playoff team with that 1st line.

You guys make good points, but I dunno. In the past few years I've wondered more about this team when it's gone up against teams they should beat more so than the massive statement games like last year's Boston game.
