Aren't you always on people for sample sizes when the argument is against Luongo?

Maybe you should remember he has only played 3 games.

Just sayin...

In saying that he does look in January form. Glad to see him get a shutout at home & a string of Luuuuu's at the end.

They brought him up because the AHL was having their all-star game and a bunch of Marlies were involved. It's not that big of a deal.

Maybe the Jets?

Luongo
Jensen

for

Kane
Pavelec

Jets get veteran goalie for playoff push and a top power forward prospect. Canucks get another power forward to add size: what Gillis wants more of.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian
Booth - Kesler - Kane
Raymond - Burrows - Hansen
Malhotra - Lapierre - Higgins

Playoff line without Weise/Volpatti

Schroeder back to Chicago

You'll need to add a lot more for Winnipeg to part with Evander Kane. They need to add some offense, not subtract it.

ugh.

Don't want Kane at all.

Know some people who have been around him and apparently he isn't well liked in the dressing room.
Apparently has some entitlement issues (regarding ice time). I know for a fact that he (and Duchene) both believe that they are shoe-ins for next years Olympic team.

Would rather not disclose how I know these things, just take my word for it.

Don't want him anywhere near our team.

The great part of the Luongo statistical story is alway starts slow and then fights the rest of the season to lower the numbers to his top 10 levels...

So sample size or not... of all goalies with at least 3 starts he's sitting #2 in GAA and Sv%... That is not typical Luongo.

There just may be something to this 'chip on his shoulder' thing... He's an all-star potential HoF goalie with a tonne of ego and pride. He isn't going to sit on the bench and play vicitim.

I love the fight he's showing... but as you elluded to... the sample size is merely 4 appearances and 3 starts.

But i gotta say.... i think WYSIWYG... i think he'll be in vezina form all season...

Schneider has let in 5 more goals (nearly double) than Luongo and played fewer minutes....Hmmm.

They sent him down to get back up to speed. Having him sit around idle for a week while the AHL All-Star festivities were on-going on seems counter productive.

Keep Luongo, trade Schneider if Schneids will fetch a bigger return imo. Schneider to Columbus for Columbus 1st round 2013 and anisimov

Luongo will be gone.
No way around it.
He doesn't want to stay beyond this season.
He will be traded.

Let's just hope he keeps this form, and his trade value gets higher and higher.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that both Canucks goalies have been excellent aside from that first game. Since then they have the following numbers:

Luongo:

SV%: .952
GAA: 1.26

Schneider:

SV%: .935
GAA: 1.95

I am not convinced of that at all. If Gillis asked him to stay and they were moving Schneider. I imagine Lu would be happy the whole thing is done with and suit up for us without a second thought.

Nope. Lu is mentally checked out. When you get to the point of saying it's time to move on, you're looking forward not back.

Be convinced BE. Schneider is _the_ goalie for VAN moving forward. Better or worse, sink or swim. All parties know this.

Got a little tear in my eye when the crowd was Luu-ing him at the end. As much drama and controversy has surrounded him for much of his tenure here... God I will miss him when he has to go.

Not a Kane fan ... overpaid is not what the Canucks value ... and call me a dreamer but Jensen will be better than Kane in 3 or 4 years. Is there any reason to believe that Jensen isn't on a D Sedin / Naslund career path.

Lou has been great ... both his play and his attitude ... its a great dilema to have, but GMMG has to be going "thanks Lou, you are increasing your value every game".

exactly

Cory had a very poor game 1 ,even with terrible breakdowns in front of him..
after that steller even with a couple of gifted goals by canuck dmen vs LA

alot of teams would be licking their chops.....at our goalies even if they arnt trading for a goalie

I guess what we heard during the off season about Florida not needing a goalie is turning out to be spot on.

I mean:

Theodore: 3.97 GAA .904 SV%
Clemmensen 4.80 GAA .840 SV%

I guess since the goaltending situation is going so well we don't have a hope of shopping a goalie to them.
