This board is like a yo-yo.. After Winnipeg loss we were terrible and a slew of negative threads come up, we beat Pitt we're back to being world beaters! Haha

This would be a really nice way to cap off the trip though grabbing a big win before returning home.. Might even give the old barn some juice!

What do the Islanders need to do in order to be taken seriously? I know this has been talked about a lot, so I didn't want to start a thread. To be taken seriously (which to me means the opponent does not say, "oh, it's the Islanders we should win this game").

Is it making the playoffs? Winning a series in the playoffs? Simply finishing with a winning record? Or is this more dependent on the ownership of the team?

For all intents and purposes, I am happy if this team does .500 this season. That is the first step of our goal...or should be. We can't expect too much too fast. Next season, I would expect the Isles to be slightly over .500, but it's not easy...our division isn't exactly a cake walk.

Awesome GDT Truman!

I spent many an afternoon playing NHL 93-94 and downing Crystal Pepsi.

BTW Who's going to make Kovalchuk's head bleed?

Awesome GDT!

Brings back so many memories from back in the day. Spent countless hours playing these games... and playing the new ones now. Guess much hasn't changed

I would love to get a point tonight.

The Devils don't really scare me offensively past the Kovy line. The problem is that they have been almost impossible to score against . They absolutely smothered us that first game. I still think we have a decent shot.

Also, this is a game I would give to Ricky. We already have a successful road trip so a loss wouldn't hurt that bad. Even though we have two days off coming up, you have to find spots to give Nabby a rest.

If we can pick up at least 3 points in the next 2 games against these guys, we'd be in great shape for a good start to the season. The Devils are tough for us because they play such solid defense.

I think the key to tonights game is to not let them control the pace of the game. We have to play a smash mouth, in your face kind of style against this team because otherwise they will gladly control the pace of the game and, more often than not, win.

I hope Nabby gets both these starts, we should be starting DP as little as possible. Save him for back to back nights if anything.

I can here the music in my mind that always plays during the Ron Barr previews. Love it!! Still play this, NHL 94 and NHL 97 often. Great games! Blades of Steel sometimes, but that game can frustrate me.

so I googled NHL 94 thanks to the thread, and discovered there's a whole online community dedicated to the game, and people still playing on emulators, etc.

THIS FASCINATES ME!

Big game tonight. A win would be nice and taking 7 out of a possible 10 points on the trip would be huge.

With two days off after this one no reason Nabakov doesn't get both starts and rightfully so. DiPietro will be lucky to get 10 games this year and that is how it should be.

Any idea who's taking McDonald's spot in the lineup tonight? Hopefully NOT Boulton.

No! This is a jinx if I've ever seen one. I prefer flying under the radar a little longer. BTW, I'll be in section 4 tonight. Let's hope for a good game guys!

Oh yea! Love that site! Although I don't use an emulator, I still have a Genesis and a ton of different NHL/NHLPA cartridges! Love any and all hockey games.

gotta go with Nabokov, especially after an off-day. I'd save Ricky for the odd back-to-back. He's looked "okay" so far this year but Nabby's been excellent.

I get the idea that Pierre McGuire, has been waiting the last season or so, for the worm to turn for the isles. He's been very high on their prospect pool for a while now, predicting they'll be a dominate young team.
