Every coach has a shelf life, fair or not. I think his has expired in Buffalo.

Message is stale. He has to be replaced I think. He was good. Was. Not anymore for Buffalo.

A once great coach who has worn out his welcome and completely stagnated his team.

as long as he's in BUF, they'll never win a cup

time to move on

I have always thought Ruff gets better statistical results than what he has on paper and after all these years, that's impressive.

But I also wonder if he's almost too good for their own good? What I mean is he might be just good enough to avoid ever getting fired, but not good enough to win them anything substantial. Kind of career purgatory.

On a sidenote, I hate his whining. Some coaches have that face you just want to punch because they whine like babies at every call. Pat Quinn was one. Ruff isn't far behind.

Just one of those mediocer coaches. Always the same you know. Never good enough to win something but also never bad enough to really suck.

Seems to rely on complaining about outsiders too much to rally his team together. The whole "us against them" mantra. Guy always has a gripe about one thing or another.

(my response was regarding lindy ruff)

The Sabres have won their division TWICE in Lindy Ruff's 15 year tenure

They've missed the playoffs 6 out of the last 10 years

No, we all do not.

But I like your idea of an outside opinion. Don't think you are going to get the results you wanted though.

I certainly won't. Mediocrity isn't my goal.

I don't think so. IMO it is a vocal minority that doesnt like him (same half dozen or so posters). The amount of respect he gets internally and throughout the league is warranted.

I do agree that if he is run out of town, that down the road it will be a regrettable move.

Drop him and watch how fast he gets snapped up. That alone should tell you something about the guy.

The style he promotes will not ever bring a team over the top.

For everyone in here who says he is a great coach...

What makes you feel that way?

Please don't tell me because he has been here for 15 years as your reason.

I've never liked him. They've always stacked that team with top end goalies. If not for that, he'd be long gone.

About half the arena from behind, the rest from the front.

Ba-dum ching!

It'll be interesting to see where he lands when the inevitable finally happens and what sort of success he has when he gets there.
