This will be a big win if we pull it off.

I hope Matty Anderson has a good game but not that good.

gotta go with Nabokov, especially after an off-day. I'd save Ricky for the odd back-to-back. He's looked "okay" so far this year but Nabby's been excellent.

I was thinking:

Tavares - Trottier - Bossy
Gillies - Nielsen - Grabner
Tonelli - Lafontaine - Palffy
Bourne - Turgeon - Vukota

Potvin-Persson
Jonsson-Jonsson
Hamonic-Baumgartner

Billy Smith
DiPietro (he's timeless)

I did. Their defense is pretty stacked and their organization knows how to win. Watch how they close games and how we close games.

THIS FASCINATES ME!

check it out: www.nhl94.com
A friend and I just picked up a Retron: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Retron-3-Sup...-/120677797528

This thing is awesome. It is only 60 bucks and it has all 3 systems in one. Been bringing back the NHL 94 tournaments!

With Henrique back, we need to be careful of a bit more scoring threats than the Devils have shown all season. If we play like we did in Pittsburgh, we should get a W.

Agreed. Over the past couple days, I've heard this sort of thing often from Devils fans and it's greatly appreciated. I've seen a few tweets from Devils fans who were so happy to see the Isles ahead of the Pens, Flyers, and Rags, and even saying that they don't mind seeing the Isles at the top of the Atlantic, as long as the Devils aren't too far behind. This one buddy of mine who is also a Devils fan, has had a picture of Grabner as his Facebook profile pic for the last week...just loves the way he plays.

Every team has a few complete idiot fans, but I think alot of Devils and Isles fans relate in their hatred for the Rags, Flyers, and Pens...and I know both organizations have gone through the same struggles off the ice. I remember a time when there was constant talk about the Devils relocating and recently with the ownership/money issues, which seems to be corrected now, I presume. But going through that uncertainty hurts the fans...and I think we all breathe a sigh of relief when things get worked out and these teams become competitive again. It was a long time coming for the Isles though.

But I'll stop the wishy-washiness now since it's gameday. Go Isles! Rangers suck!

I love the 9-1 predictions. May i add the Isles/Devils maybe not score 10 goals combined in the 4 games they play this season.

Awesome job on GDT let's get you to 2-0!!!!

NHL 93 was the best. Loved beating up Kris King and Pukeaboom and leaving them bloodied on the ice. The beast team was Chicago, everyone can hit and fight on that squad.

Sucks they took blood out of hockey games after this one. Meanwhile 90% of the other games on the market are filled with blood. They will say it's because they want the "E" rating but games like Call of Duty are rated "M" and sell more copies than any other game. I would love to see blood in NHL 14. Not gonna happen but one can dream.

Also, this is a game I would give to Ricky. We already have a successful road trip so a loss wouldn't hurt that bad. Even though we have two days off coming up, you have to find spots to give Nabby a rest.
Only one? I want two in regulation!! I want every single point. This is a shortened season and I want the Isles to make a statement that the past is over and the new era of Isles hockey is about to flourish.

shocking stat of the day: Eric Boulton has played over 600 career NHL games.

That might be more than the rest of the roster combined (very close, anyway)

wow

Remember, Islanders and Devils both exist entirely as an alternative to the Rangers. Common enemy, common bond. Fans of each team respect fans of the other, because at the end of the day, they both hate the Rangers.

We outplayed the Devils for most of the home opener if it wasnt for a horribly timed line change and a weak 5 hole goal let in by Nabby. Brodeur stood on his head.

I have alot of confidence going into tonight. 4-2 Isles

Nice memorable NHL 94 theme, for the thread. Now if the Isles can hark back to the 80's I'll really be happy!

I've been out of town the part 10 days following the Isles on NHL Gamecenter, usually a day or 2 behind. So far, I'm pretty happy with what I've been seeing. I didn't see the Pittsburgh game (still waiting for it to be available on Gamecenter), but up until that game, it seems to me that JT might be struggling a bit and that the 2nd and 3rd lines have held the Isles in most of the games. I figure, once JT gets going, things could get really interesting. Throw Viz and Bailey in the mix and I feel very optimistic.

Good to be back home and have a chance to see the Isles live again.

No knock on the new GDT's, they're terrific. I'm just curious, what happened to LAW?

Hell, I'd just be happy with the Isles playing like it was 1993 right about now.

So far this season, they kind of are.

Tavares = Turgeon
Moulson = King
Okposo = Flatley
Nabokov = Osgood
Grabner = Hogue

etc.

There are some interesting similarities though.
