I would like to see this. If Dacosta can win faceoffs he can slot in as our second line center. Turris needs to get better at faceoffs and they should be working every damn second with him to get his % up.

Let turris handle 1C and let Smith Regin and Zibby battle it out for #2

who knows maybe Zibby goes beast mode or Smith surprises us

Honestly, if we make the Playoffs without Spezza... Some Sens players will be getting some awards.

But either way, this should make things interesting (at least its a shortened season)

You are not allowed to say that around here. I tried a few days ago and people took it very personally.

Maybe move Greening up, and Gui down with Neil and Smith.
Gui is actually pretty responsible. Though not creating offense he has been back checking hard.

Maybe he would indeed look better on a checking line with Smith and Neil. He doesn't seem to ahve the legs to keep up qith quicker players, maybe on a line like that they could focus on dumping it in and crashing the net.

Some of you are acting like karlsson is out long term. Losing our number 1 centre is definitely a big loss but we've got the depth, goaltending and d men to keep us in contention, I think. Let's see what were made of

It's a shame, i had such high hopes for the guy this season but he just hasn't shown the flair he did against the Penguins in the playoffs a few years ago.

I'm sure he'll get another look at filling the second line spot, but he just hasn't taken advantage of the ice time he's had.

Don't act like Spezza isn't a HUGE loss, he really is. Karlsson or Andy would be worse though. But beyond that, Spezza is as bad as it gets.

That said, it really will show how our depth is over the next two months.

With Spezza out, the Turris line will be targeted - playing against harder opponents. Definitely going to need the other lines to step up.

I'm looking forward to seeing how well our depth responds

I hope Da Costa gets a chance in the top six now with Spezza out.

Well thats just great

Im surprised Im not hearing DaCosta's name more in here, he was the first player that popped in my head after reading the news. He is BY FAR the best chance we have at replacing some of the skill in the lineup. Ill be very surprised if he isnt playing full time in our top 6 while Spezza is out indefinitely.

Think Da Costa gets a shot at 2C, Zibanejad should get some top 6 time. Don't know where that leaves Latendresse though.

So Spezza to IR; Zibanejad presumably now stays - who gets a look? Grant or DaCosta. Both bring something, lack something.

And we can not afford Latendress's misses much longer. He needs to get going or waived to the AHL (or another team) and get someone into his spot who can contribute. I keep hearing how nice his hands are for a big guy - it's not a Sunlight Soap commercial. He needs to get his pucks into the net!

Anyone else wondering how this came so out of the blue? We all know he had back problems in the past, but he played in Switzerland and the Spengler with no issues and looked good in the first 5 games. So all it took was one little tweak and he's got a herniated disc? Seems a bit strange to me that absolutely nothing came up during his medicals in camp, just such a fluke thing.

At 29, this is very critical for him. This surgery needs to address the back issues once and for all.

Just some thoughts ....

Greening - Turris - Michalek
Silfverberg - DaCosta - Alfie
Latendresse - Smith - Neil
Zibanejad - O'Brien - Condra

All LWs are probably interchangeable on any given night.

I hear you, but Regin and Daugavins are there too. If Lats does not get going (said it elsewhere) maybe he gets waived to AHL or another team. His spot has to produce, especially now.
