Can barely control my excitement for this. And just my luck, I'm going to the game on Friday!

Texas Stars are already on the ice practicing .... can't wait for Dallas. I still anticipate we'll be disappointed to find out Roy is not ready, but I really want to see who is out on D.
Plus, if Big Rig is truly getting an opportunity, you'd think he'd get some PP time, but that might cause Gulutzan's heart to explode.

Heika on how the team decided on ultimately bringing up Oleksiak :
Quote:
Others have taken the step at this age. I can understand wanting him to stay in the minors, but I think they have talked to a lot of people before making this move. The insiders believe he is ready. And, if he's not, they'll send him back.

From same chat linked above, answer to, "Does Gulutzan or Fraser choose players on PP?"
Quote:
It's a joint decision. Lots of meetings to prepare grouops, and then I believe Gulutzan makes the call on the bench.
GMJN role in lines and D pairs:
Quote:
Officially, none. He has a theory of letting the coaches coach. However, he and Gulutzan meet everyday, so Gulutzan is aware of his opinions.

Defense pairs in practice: Dillon-Robidas; Rome-Daley; Oleksiak-Goligoski; Benn-Larsen
So .... worst case scenario? Benn and Larsen out in place of Rome and Oleksiak.

I'm... okay with this.
Still towing the Benn is a center line even with all this wonderful depth we seem to have fallen onto.

Lines: Eriksson-Benn-Jagr; Whitney-Eakin-Ryder; Nystrom-Fiddler-Vincour; Morrow-Roussel-Garbutt
Pretty happy about these lines .. further indication Roy isn't ready though.

I'm surprised he's saying GM Joe sees him as a center now. That didn't seem to be the tune last year and into the summer.

Its amazing how apathetic I am of the bottom 6 combinations as long as Vincour is on the 3rd line and Eakin is on the 2nd. With Smith gone I could care less how Morrow/Garbutt/Fiddler/Nystrom are mixed.

Heika must not be getting a lot of questions if he's answered three of mine so far.

Q: Benn and Larsen are scratched at practice. D Pairs are Dillon-Robidas; Rome-Daley; Big Rig-Goose.
Would you possibly make any adjustments to that if you were the coach and having seen the past few games?
A: Yes, I would go: Dillon-Robidas, Oleksiak-Daley, Goligoski-Larsen. But that's just me. I think Oleksiak needs a solid defender to start out with.
Rather telling there.

It's Dillon-Robi, Rome-Daley, Goose-Oleksiak at practice.

at least rome is garbage so they shouldnt keep him in the lineup too long. The question is does Larsen or Benn come back first.

Logic: Benn can go back to the AHL therefore he's gone. Since Rome truly is spare, Larsen should find his way into the lineup on a semi-permanent basis (although there should be not question he's an everyday player).
Dallas Stars: Derpa Derpa Derpa ....

Heika's all discombobulated. Probably because I asked him about cloning a prime Jere Lehtinen.

Heika just basically said don't be shocked if Cody Eakin is the 4th line center when Roy returns.
