I would rather keep the guy who blows in a position of need and see what happens than the guy who blows on defense, a position we have so much we are giving away guys who get a 4 year contract two weeks after leaving here for nothing.
God I could only wish. This was actually my first thought when we picked him up. If he sticks, and we have to send someone down... please let it be Lovejoy!

From a guy who gets pissed when people don't say him 5'8. There's a damn big difference between 5'10 and 5'7. Sidney Crosby and Chris Conner difference.

It's not like anyone would be dumb enough to claim Lovejoy anyways.

Might be in the minority, but I don't like this move at all. Boychuk's the type of guy who would be capable of decent production on a last place team in big minutes (ex Blake Comeau). But that he would be playing big minutes is a contributing factor to why a team like that would lose.

If we're going to give a shot in the top 6 to a guy like this, I'd just as soon have had Nick Johnson back because he's bigger, smarter and slicker, if much slower.

Obviously can't be upset with picking up a former first rounder on waivers as everyone else had said. At the very least this gives me a reason to fire up NHL 13 so that I can update the rosters and score a hat trick with this kid like he's the second coming of Selanne

LOL. 4'11". He's a Canadian male hockey player, not a Romanian female gymnast.

Wonder if Shero can find one of them to play w/ Geno...

Or maybe a tiny asian figure skater like the kid in Mighty Ducks 2...

Saw him play with the Charlotte Checkers back at the beginning of January against the Norfolk Admirals (Pens fan here that relocated to NC long time ago). The guy has obvious skill and speed, so it'll be interesting to see where he lands for us. He's not a grinder, so I'm curious who in the organization said "OH OH OH, GRAB HIM ... GRAB HIM!"

What I find interesting is that our organization comes out and says ... "we want a physical winger for Malkin/Neal" (i.e. - Tangradi). It doesn't pan out. "Oh ... they need a right-handed sniper" (i.e. - TK). It doesn't pan out. "Oh ... let's just have an open try out of possible players going on waivers" (i.e. - Jeffrey, now Boychuk). Who is honestly running this group that we give 2 game try-outs to people for a line position? Arg.

I'd like to see Jeffrey stick on that 2nd line honestly.

Basically Shero knew that trading OUR polarizing #11 to the Canes has brought too much peace to HFBoards, so hes stealing Caronlinas polarizing #11. Its not right that we get along so well.

We should be at each others throats, only the strong can survive, survival of the fittest.

Let the Boychuck debates begin!!!!

We had an open roster spot (or will when Niskanen goes on IR... or we waive Lovejoy ). What risk is there to dress him and give him a few games alongside Sid or Geno? He can't be any worse than what they've had to date. If it doesn't work out, then waive him, and let Carolina take him back. This is a no risk type of move.

Might as well try the free player before spending assets on someone else (which almost certainly won't happen for a few weeks anyway).

Love this move. Costs nothing and he could do well with Crosby or Malkin. He cant be any worse then Glass in the top 6.

If worst comes to worst with this guy, hopefully he provides the means of a replacement to one of our wingers with more value. TK, Tangradi or Jeffrey with one of them being in a deal to bring someone of proven value onto the team.

From my POV, no negative can come from this. Unless he gets nervous, skates around like an idiot and lacerates someone's foot,

There are any number of players in Wilkes-Barre I'd give a look at before claiming a player like Boychuk.

Possibly, it would be twilight zone if he wears #11 and gets Jordan's foot

I doubt he plays tonight, does he need to pass a physical and ****? I would imagine he'll be in the lineup on Saturday and Jeffrey is scratched no matter how good he possibly could play tonight.

Of course, Cal O'Reilly joined the Penguins in Toronto when we claimed him off waivers and he was in the press box and interviewed during the broadcast. Maybe Boychuk will be in NYC tonight and sit in the press box.

He won't play tonight, not before getting in a practice or 2.
