Well looks like we didn't get Boychuck....really not surprised, I mean when was the last time we claimed a player off of waivers?

Well Islanders are before us, so how can you claim anyone?
It's not like Waivers are full of prime beef... There are some good options sometimes though.

Would we have got him anyway if we did?

Avs would have gotten him if they put in a claim. Pittsburgh were the ones claiming him and they are behind us in waiver priority.

I think Boychuk will do well in Pitt. He will probably end up on Crosby or Malkin's line at some point, which will give him the space to use his skill.

I think I'm confusing the NHL's waiver rules with MLB's

Bylsma says Boychuk will be thrown in on Malkins line...

It would have been nice to take a flier on Boychuck...too bad the Avalanche have an aversion to the Waiver Wire.

Who was the last player claimed on Waivers? Parros? I know he fetched a 2nd (what a trade THAT was!), but come on, WHY couldn't they have given Boychuck a chance?

It is ridiculous. We are struggling offensively, have a lost a couple of wingers due to injury and they're telling us that Boychuk couldn't have helped? I love the Avs, I do, but I am finding it hard to keep faith and patience with everything that has happened over the last few years, especially when free roster additions/upgrades are missed.

The guy has 18 points in 73 career games. Don't be fooled by where he was drafted, he hasn't been a good player. Would I have liked to take a shot, yes. But it's not like he was going to suddenly fix our scoring problems.

he does (did?) have crazy potential, i remember watching him back when he played in the world juniors, maybe it was just a good couple of tournaments but they made me a fan of his

Oh, I know that (for the same reason I didn't think that Sgarbossa's call up was going to suddenly make things ok) but he is a free asset (as are other players we have passed up on the waiver wire) that would have at least had a chance to show he was worth a very small risk.

I doubt someone picked up on waivers would save our season, come on.

Remember the Leopold trade to Calgary where the Avs picked up some chump whom they could have claimed a day or two before (along with the pick and Wilson it was a good trade)?

They didn't want to pick him up before because it costed $50k to make a waiver wire claim. This is another case. The player might help but is he worth the $50k and the NHL salary? Not to the Avs he isn't!

Sherman probably didn't even know he was on waivers. Too busy playing NHL 13.

I highly doubt Caps would give up Forsberg for Barrie and a 2nd, and the with Ovechkin for Jones and Stastny.

Damn... I would LOVE Ovechkin on this team!
But don't see it happening in a million years
