Wait, is Luongo no longer the backup? Does that mean he worth more than a second?

Of course having 2 good goalies is a bonus (Price and Halak) but eventually you have to move one and the longer it takes the bigger the chance for value to go down.

Heck, I don't know what I'm even talking about. Keep em both and good luck to ya, I hope you make it to the SCF!
Agreed. And there's the key word in your post.
As for value going down, I think that's unlikely for Luongo.

Keeping Luongo until summer could be risky in terms of return, for cap purposes they need to move one of their goaltenders before next season start. This gives upper hand to other teams, they can just check the UFA market for goalies first and then wait until Canucks are forced to trade one.

It depends. If the offer is currently say Bozak and a second then are you better off trading Luongo or keeping him. Easy decision for me.

Yeah I agree, Luongo is a good help for a cup run this season (better than Bozak & 2nd). It's just frustrating for Canucks when they don't get a good return for a great goaltender, of course they've had big benefit of having Luongo this long and getting better success that way. Still the current situation looks bad value-wise for Canucks, but even without additions they'll be good team for several years in the future so no worries.

I think near the trade deadline will be when Luongo's value be the highest.

You don't need to bump this every time a goalie has a bad game...

Not really. Toronto should rebuild properly. If I were Nonis, I would tell Gillis I'm interested in Schneider but not Luongo.

At least we could get something half decent for Schneider

But Nabokov has more points than Luongo.

The way that I see it, Schneider should get traded

Luongo's playing awesome and if we can't get fair value for him I'd recommit to Luongo

Nabokov has just squandered NYI's THIRD lead of the game.

4 goals against on just 27 shots.

Crap lateral movement.

Has given up 3 or more goals in 4 of his 6 starts.

Um no. Luongo may be able to play another year in Vancouver, but it's quite obvious he will be dealt eventually he himself has said it's time to move on. Maybe if this entire situation wasn't blown out of proportion than your idea could work, but seeing everything that already has happened, no way Schneider is moved instead of Lu.

The Isles make a ton of sense. Too bad Lu wouldn't waive his NTC to play there. A return of Naby+Bailey+Nino would be ideal.

Islanders needed all 5 of its goals tonight to overcome the Kazak blimp's play.

Not really

he only says it's time to move on because he thinks the team doesn't want him anymore

3 straight starts tells me differently, unless AV is showcasing him, which could be the plan. But once Schneider is moved, Luongo is the #1 again and I don't think he'd have a problem with it seeing how that's his best chance to win a cup, instead of spending his final 6 years with a rebuilding team with no chance to win a cup.

The opportunity to win a cup will do wonders for one's ego
