Jones, I see Jones as the next Pronger, so leaning to MacKinnon says alot.
But skill and work ethic doesn't mean he should go over Jones, who's arguably the best defensive prospect since Pronger (But could be passed next year with Ekblad...) MacKinnon is in the mold of a Taylor Hall, reckless, speed demon, highly skilled, great work ethic but without elite level hockey sense. It's still on a high level but it's not elite like a Tavares.

People criticize Jones' hockey sense, but I don't see why. He's got elite hockey sense and an all-aroud game not seen since Pronger. He's got the potential to be a 15-50 defensemen, with elite level defense and solid physical play. I've never been as sure about a defensive prospect before.

He's been a little better lately, but it all goes hand in hand with ice time. There are no TOI stats tracked in SEL2, but I would estimate Burakovsky has averaged 7-8 minutes this season. The way he's dominated against his age group has kept him high. Big U18 Worlds coming for him.

Lazar continues to slip. I remember earlier in the season many were speaking of him as a possible top 10 pick.

If people question Seth Jones hockey sense they obviously are lacking some hockey sense themselves.

I can't figure out why Zykov is ranked so low, if he's talked about so highly, unless skating, defense and the Russian factor are issues, sounds like one of the rare Russians that has the right attitude, very determined player, unlike most who just try and coast on their talent.

I love how a stereotype created by the minority of Russian players is used to identify the majority of Russians.

Every country has players with attitude problems... The Russian Factor is getting ridiculous.

My favorite was Yakupov throwing his arms up after scoring a goal. The announcers say, "oh I don't like that at all."

Meanwhile, Grigorenko doesn't care. Enigmatic Russians and all.

I smile (trying to hold back laughter) and then burst out laughing everytime I hear someone say Mackinnon or Jones doesn't have good hockey sense

This is true... You can't be be in contention for the first overall pick without having great hockey sense.

I think some people believe their exceptional skill levels must compensate for something.

Its the country where Don Cherry could become prime minister if he wanted to. What did you expect?

On merit alone, its Jones without question.

There is still months of hockey to be played before the draft, if anybody thinks there is a big gap between Jones and Mackinnon they are out to lunch. It is still anybody's game.

You are kidding, right?
To say that "_________ (Jones or MacKinnon, pick your player) is ahead of ________ (Jones or MacKinnon) without question" is an ignorant comment.

He's not putting up the points people expected from him. To be honest, folks in Edmonton are still really impressed by him, he brings it and has tons of intangibles. With the way this draft is shaping up, some very good players are going to have to drop. But IMO some team is going to be very happy if he slips to the late first.

No. Its my opinion. Ive seen both players play numerous times over a decent period of time, so it is not "ignorant". It may not be an opinion you agree with, but I guess that would be your problem, not mine.

Fucale ranked 21 and Jarry out of the top sixty is a pretty questionable.

Ya, there are only five guys in his top 30 that aren't in mine, and Mueller is by far the biggest surprise for me. I just see quite a few defenders being more balanced and or having quite a bit higher upside for Mueller to be there. I see Chris Bigras, Ian McCoshen, Keaton Thompson and Madison Bowey being a level above Mueller, but hey, that's why we all talk about prospects. If it was clear cut, then we'd only have to talk about draft order!

Biggest surprises for me:
1. Mirco Mueller...He sits at 50 on my list.
2. Alexander Wennberg - I have him outside my first round. My viewings of him were earlier in the year, and although I thought he was good, I didn't see a first round talent. I will be watching him more as I have been hearing good things and believe he will be a riser if the reviews I've read are accurate. He sits at 41 on my list.
3. Connor Hurley - I can't imagine a kid this creative and offensively gifted not being a first rounder. That said, it is very tough to project a kid playing high school hockey, so maybe I am overprojecting him? He sits at 25 on my list.

Fucale is unreal. Should be a first rounder IMO
