I usually don't take what Michel Villeneuve from 110% says seriously, but I heard on CKAC yesterday that Villeneuve said Elias was interested in playing with the Habs.
god I hope this is true. Elias would be the catch of a lifetime for the Habs

It's not about getting Elias, per se. It's Bob puffing his chest and declaring he's on the prowl. No better way to do it than to announce you're going after the biggest catch.

GM's can talk to UFA's since midnight last night.

But deals can only be made official at noon today.

But to sacrifice 6-8 mil on a 35-40 goal scorer? I don't know about that.

If he were to be a parrenial 50 goal scorer and a franchise player, then by all means, give the man the max. Otherwise, that 8 mil can be split in signing 2 very decent players

4 year/ 36 million + club option of 9 million sounds good and buyout of 4 million!

Yeah but, Elias still has a way ahead of him, come on, if Brodeur wasn't in NJ he would be THEIR Franchise player. We need someone like him.

Elias can maybe score 50 outside of new jersey, in a more offensively open system.(Lamoriello killed all his chances to resign Elias when he grabbed Julien)

Well, if his linemates were Kovalev and Koivu, then that'd have a chance to produce 300+ points!

By definition, your franchise player can't be a UFA signing.

If a team were to sign him for that much, they would be gambling that Elias does indeed become that 50-goal franchise player. Much like the Toronto Blue Jays did with AJ Burnett.

If we do sign him for that much, and he doesnt produce, Gainey will be lynched

I have no doubt that Bob will probably try to negociate with Elias just like he did with Foppa last year but in the end i doubt that he's going to sign here.

Dont hold your breath guys

Off a building? Can I pick it? I promise one that is high enough to kill you instantly, not just cripple and disfigure you horribly.
