The market wasn't all that great for Regehr. If I remember correctly, the Sharks, the other team interested, were only offering McGinn and some late picks. In hindsight, that still would have been a much better deal.
That being said, dumping Kotalik for a 2nd/Byron was absolutely terrible, but the blame lies more so with the ownership group, who weren't willing to eat Kotalik's salary. So even if Feaster wanted to take the Sharks deal, he couldn't because there was no way Wilson was going to take on that contract.
Oh wow that was pretty goal.
The market wasn`t great, but the Blues and Habs would of had interest as well so there would of been several offers if Feaster would of shopped him better. Why move him at all if the right deal wasn`t available.
The Sabres had no problem sending Kotalik to the minors and most people knew in Calgary if the AHL was Kotalik`s destination that he likely would of went overseas anyways so there was no need to trade a 2nd just to dump Kotalik.
We can both agree that it was a bad idea to package Kotalik with Regehr and as such it likely decimated Regehr`s trade value. I would of been way happier to see Regehr dealt for one quality piece rather than 2 mid level spare parts. I will never believe that was the best available deal out there. I think Feaster should of done of his homework better as to inform ownership there was no need to deal Kotalik.
Man, Hudler. You see that skill, it shines through a ton.
Insane our highest payed forwards have been doing nothing to start the season. I expect a lot more from Cammy and Jarome. Cervenka looks comfortable down the middle during that short PP... Dunno, I think you can move him to get Stajan off that line. I'd rather have Horak up instead of Stajan between those two. There's a huge gap in skill between Cervenka/Hudler and Stajan.
I'm kinda sad that Holland chose to keep Samuelsson for 3 million and not Hudler at 4. Hudler is definitely making use of the extra ice time that he couldn't get in Detroit.
I was not a fan of the Hudler signing, took him 2 games to win me over.
Ona forum where it's VERY 'what have you doen for me lately', that might as well have been an eternity.
Good to see the Flames' newest acquisitions clicking and also reviving the play of Stajan. I just got here, just wondering how Wideman, Giordano and Brodie were doing?

Really?? What has Horak done to deserve that? Nothing. Stajan has played great with the Czech yet you still want to get him out of there? Call me crazy but no thanks. Funny how Staj plays good and he still deserves to get shafted
Kipper is seriously worrying me. He has been outplayed by the oppositions goalie in every single game this season. Hopefully he can make the big save when he is called upon in this third period.
Cammalleri is also having an abysmal season. Sluggish and horrible defensively.
On the bright side the new additions are playing fantastic. Hudler has sick hands/vision.

All I gotta say is thank God JW is on board now.
Regehr was injury prone, bitter and cankerous in the locker room, too slow for the kind of team Feaster wanted, and more or less wanted out. On top of that, he had a NTC.
Even if Kotalik went over seas, the Flames would still have had to pay part of his salary. That was the issue - the owners weren't willing to eat his 3M, either in the AHL or abroad in addition to spending to the cap. Feaster was handcuffed in that regard. It was either keep Kotalik on the roster, or find a way to dump him.
What Feaster does deserves criticism for, is in thinking Byron was worth a 2nd round pick and thinking Butler was worth anything at all.

Ya I thought he would be rusty for the first few games holy ****, he has let in a soft goal every game. Playing like a backup.
Butler is unbelievably awful. I haven't seen a Flames defensemen this bad since Anders Erikkson.
Absolutely. I have defended the guy in the past but he is showing that it was not the minutes that he was playing last year that were his cause for trouble. He is simply an unintelligent hockey player.
Jbo had his best game as a Flame last Saturday and Stajan is having his best game as a Flame this one.
Hudler has been fantastic and Cervenka has setup some amazing plays. If Butler could just go away and Kipper can tighten his **** up we would be just fine. And yeah I agree, Cammy has been invisible.
