The D is just so unproportional... There's no way a professional sports team would use that.

The"D" just keeps looking worse the more I stare at it, but I don't hate the Texas logo.

The star doesn't look good on either one.

Yeah ... that really does look more and more like the Anaheim "D" with some green just splashed on.

That can't possibly be it right? That almost couldn't be less classic looking.

Highly doubt thats them with all the talk of classic. The texas one is ok, the d isnt that good, but it does sort of fit with the rumors that are out there. Also that green does not look like celtic green. In fact i think its closer to the midnight green the eagles use.

Made me realize the color in the logo and the background don't match.

if those are the logos the texas one is definitely a better crest while the crappy d logo wouldnt be as hideous as a shoulder logo. I feel like it would be alot better if the left side of the D top and bottom were symmetrical with both of them looking like the bottom. The top half is what looks the stupidest with the black area looking like some retarded S

What does classic even mean? I think classic goes more to the striping and coloring of the jersey than the logo.

Holy ****, those are terrible.

Those must be rejected prototypes.

That Texas one is especially brutal. What's with all of those cutesy curves? It looks like a dance studio logo.

Slap those on a predominantly green jersey, and I'm a fan. Huge upgrade over the current terrible jerseys.

FYI, their twitter feed describes these as "concepts". When asked if these logos were related to the 20th anniversary logo, they said, "Wish they were related, but they're not. There were many, but these were the favorite of our Dallas Stars re-brand concepts."

In other words, they came up with these on their own. Here are those logos on the current white jersey.

with as many revisions as it sounds like they went through it's very likely these were rejected logo comps.

*oops just saw Troy's post. Mystery solved!

I take back everything positive I said about those. Those are digustingly bad on a jersey.

I always thought the DALLAS ST/\RS logo was timeless and classic all that needed to change was the jerseys

The D wouldn't look nearly as bad if it wasn't so stretched horizontally. I wouldn't mind a normal looking D. I like the Texas logo.

So .... glad they didn't win the design bid. They did a fantastic job on the 20th anniversary logo though.

This at least might give us an idea of what they are looking for. I would not be surprised to see a much cleaner looking "D" logo. Something more North Stars kind of lettering and less Flyers logo imitation could look nice. I would really ;ike just a star with no lettering. If done right it could look slick.

Thank god.

Really wish we'd just stay with our current logo

That is a good assumption, and I do like having Texas as a shoulder logo.

If we're talking a "D" as the primary logo though ... that's seems like it could be tough to pull off.

"Dallas" on the front is boring and lame. I guess I just have a hard time seeing a "D" being a big improvement.

Thanks to whoever figured this out. Posted it here because I was worried and pissed. I'd hate any logo featuring a D. I like the old Texas shoulders and would be fine if they went back to them.

The size of the black & gold borders are all over the place, I don't understand why the black & green are divided, and that Texas looks undefined and cartoon-y.
There isn't anything classic about any of that; it's so busy.
Good effort, but i'm glad they aren't official.

Also, I don't get why there need to be a "D" on it.
I know they're in '"Big "D"', but the more you localize your product like that, the more you alienate potential fans outside of the Dallas area, IMO.
It's a minor thing, if at all, but still.

As far as the main logo goes, I would have just taken the "Dallas Stars" out of the old one, connected the "A" gap in the outline, and called it a day; maybe would have seen what it looked like without the black outline in between the gold & green since it wouldn't be necessary anymore.

EDIT: OK, I made a super-quick paint project of it, and it looks better without, IMO.

I'd probably have to see it on a jersey to know for sure.

Yeah, it does look better without the black border if you connect the /\ part.

That could work. It's a little bit like Tampa's ultra-simple approach.

Not that it matters.
