I love those lines, id probably switch ryder and morrow, but that 3rd line could really give some offense, and that 4th line would simply blow people up

Its funny that canuck fans now dont want to get rid of Ballard, last year they couldnt give him away fast enough. I know hes playing better but how dont you sell high on a guy thats so so inconsistent

As a Wild fan, I'd say the Pens trade looks good for both sides.

I'd say the Vancouver trade is biased toward the Canucks.

I disagree with the assessment on the part of the Canucks-Stars trade (surprise!).

Ballard and Tanev, until last night, have been our only pairing actually playing hockey this season, and until we can stabilize our front end, our D shouldn't be tampered with.

As for value, Robidas for Ballard has been thrown around all summer, and although Ballard hasn't played well here until his last 10-15 games over the last two seasons, given more ice time, like he'd get in Dallas with Robidas out and Gogo not playing super well (as is my understanding), Ballard would very quickly jump back to his top four playing self.

Robidas is slight cap relief and a right handed shot for the Canucks. It doesn't help us out a great deal, but shaving 1 million in cap space off our roster and giving us a more usable defender (positionally) would help us more then nothing.

That leaves Fiddler for a 2nd...I don't know enough about Fiddler to shoot it down entirely, but I don't think that would work for us as a stand alone trade.

Canucks decline. We have no reason to move Ballard until the offseason. Plus, he's been our best defenseman up to this point.

I expect that Ryder fetches more than Tangradi and a 2nd. I'm not a big fan of Tangradi.

I do that Robidas and Fiddler trade for Ballard in an instant though since I've always liked Ballard, even when he was the whipping boy of many Canucks fans last year.

to dal luongo, pit 3rd rd pick

TO VANCOUVER CANUCKS: Neal, Dal 1st round pick

He's got some sick hands and playmaking ability. Not all that big, but does have some physicality to his game. Also great at faceoffs and is solid defensively. More of a longterm project though, but we don't really need immediate help at center anymore.

Thanks LT seems like a reasonable return player.

I wish I'd stopped reading. Mighty generous adding that 6th rounder.

i'm surprised he didn't go full Rossi with his "offer":

TO DAL:
7th round pick (VAN)
7th round pick (PIT)

TO PIT:
6th round pick (VAN)
7th round pick (DAL)

TO VAN:
Sidney Crosby
Jamie Benn

Ballard for Robidas+ makes a ton of sense in terms of what the Canucks need in return for Ballard (a RHD that is significantly cheaper) but I'm not sure that Robidas is cheaper enough, and that isn't something that will be known until the off-season.

The Canucks are looking at having to move two of Luongo, Booth and Ballard in the off-season. Luongo has long been presumed to be on the move so it comes down to the Canucks utility of Ballard versus Booth.

If Edler succeeds in his switch to playing the right side then there is still a place for Ballard on the Canucks as the 3rd left side defensemen. If it becomes apparent that Edler needs to move back to the left (he's actually adjusting pretty well IMO) then Ballard becomes the 4th left side D behind Edler, Hamhuis and Garrison (all making 4+ mil with NTCs) and he simply must be moved.

Raymond and Higgins are UFAs at the end of the season while Niklas Jensen will likely challenge for 2nd line minutes at the beginning of next year. Booth's cap hit could likely pay for Raymond and Higgins' contracts plus Booth is as prone to injury as he is allergic to passing.

With Kassian's emergence and Jensen's high expectations I think Booth is far more replaceable than Ballard who as many have mentioned is really starting to get comfortable in Vancouver. Both could potentially be on the way out but I don't think management feels Ballard must go.

Additionally, I wouldn't make a move for a Dman right now because it has shown over the past few years that the Canucks system is very difficult for a Dman to simply jump right into. Alberts, Ballard and now Garrison have all shown that an adjustment period is necessary and there is no time for that in this shortened season. This is something to revisit in the offseason.

As a Pens fan sign me up for that deal. Ryder on Crosby's wing and move Kunitz back to the second line with Neal and Malkin (one of the best lines in the league last year).

As for Gogo, I have to admit to not seeing him a lot since the trade but with the Pens he had tons of offensive upside and could develop into a PP quarterback but his defensive play was very shaky at times. I thought the Pens won the trade bigtime the day it happened. And no way would Shero have included Letang in the deal so no worries about holding out for him.

If the Canucks are splitting up Edler Garrison permanently, and this trade basically does this. I'd want someone more adapt at moving the puck up the ice, since Tanev would have to play next to Edler to have some defensive coverage on that pairing.
Robidas could have been traded for Ballard in this past off season. Now he's playing his best hockey still for Vancouver after a strong finish last season.

To Pens. Ryder Morrow(both at 1/2 salary), Raymond Van's 3rd 2013
To Stars. Ballard Pens 3rd
To Canucks. Kunitz Depres

Instead of two deals, we make it a three way. I hear those can be quite fun.

We don't have the room to acquire a defender without dropping one. Nor would I be okay with that return.

Vancouver wins this trade easily.

Add Rome to Vancouver's end. And Vancouver's 2nd 2013 to Dallas.

i hate that deal for the Pens, and the Stars don't do well in it either.

how about:

TO DAL:
Theodor Blueger
Eric Tangradi
PIT 2nd
PIT 5th

TO PIT:
Michael Ryder
Brendan Morrow

TO VAN:
(another separate trade or something)
