London Layover

No this is not a thread about a fictitious sexual position. Currently in London, got a layover for a while before I catch a flight to Edinburgh. What should I do? Anyone know this airport well enough to give me advice?

Heathrow is a good half an hour away from anything interesting in the city centre

I'd stay put if I were you

It depends on how long the layover actually is. As someone said Heathrow is miles away from anything.

How long are you in Edinburgh? In order of things you might want to see are Edinburgh Castle, St Giles Cathedral and Calton Hill. Oh, and if you see the heart in the pavement on the Royal Mile near St Giles, don't walk on it. It's where people used to be hanged and people spit on it. Always see tourists walking through the loogies.

The best view of edinburgh is one of the hills in a suburb but the name escapes me. It one of the places a tourist would never know about or go but you see a wonderful shot of the skyline.

OP avoid Calton Hill at night. Unless thats your thang.

Forgot about that. Yeah, I used to live in a flat that overlooked Calton Hill and you'd see a lot of people furtively scurrying between bushes near when the sun was setting.

Do you mean Arthur's Seat? I'm not sure what it's like to climb this time of year, but the view is amazing. There's a good place near the Botanical Gardens too, but I can't remember the name of it.

How long are you there for? If you're there for any amount of time I suggest going out and exploring the city. If you're only there for an hour or two I suggest just walking around the airport and going into the little shops.
