I must be blind. It's a goofy shot but it kinda looked like him to me.

Chris Tierney had a hat trick in last nights 11-1 win over the Ottawa 67s. HE scored the 1st, 2nd and 10th goals.

He's already bested his season totals from last year in 18 less games played.

This has probably been covered, but is there a consensus on Hertl for next season? Is he expected to make the team or at least play in NA?

As far as I know, he's signed through next season with his Czech team but both DW (obviously) and Hertl's agent sounded like playing NA next year was a possibility.

Yeah it was said that he was going to stay for sure this season and possibly come to NA next season (probably if he looks to make the NHL team would be my guess).

Come to think of it, I'm not even sure what prompted me to make it in the first place. Other than the fact that Pelech is awesome.

Maybe it's a real phenomenon with Nieto, but this isn't surprising to me. He was getting horrible shooting luck for the majority of the year, and now he's cashing in. Kinda the opposite of what's happening to Marleau right now.

Nope.

Guessing the Nieto family won't sit down and talk about "next season" until the end of this one.

Sharks may express a desire (IOW "think he needs more seasoning" vs "we'd love to have him in lineup"), but it's up to the player to make his decision.

Sharks usually encourage players to stay in college (unless the guy is physically and mentally ready for NHL and/or accomplished everything he can in college). But some Sharks draftees have opted to stay in college for their full eligibility.

I'm thinking it more likely he'll return to college.

Its unclear at this point. Last year he had stated that he wanted to score 20 goals so the Sharks would sign him to a pro contract, but with the tough season, the chemistry he's building with O'Regan, not to mention Megan stealing the spotlight he may want to stay another year.

I really thought the Sharks would've pulled him out of that disaster that was going on with the BU hockey program last year...they didn't, which says a lot.

I actually think it's 50/50 on where he plays next year but I'd probably lean towards returning to BU as well.

Based on the websites I was able to check it looks like the regular season ends on February 26th. I may be wrong though.

Yeah, the regular season ends in late February. His team is pretty much a lock to make the playoffs though.
Also, he has a decent chance to participate in the World Championships (between 3 - 19 May).

Hertl will be playing for the Czech team in the Oddset Games (tournament between SWE, FIN, RUS and the Czech Republic's national teams) which will be held from Feb 6th - 10th. Hertl will be the youngest player in the tournament.

Hertl was centering our 4th line (with Ivan and Tomáš Rachůnek on his wings) in a 2-0 win over Sweden yesterday. I wasn't overly impressed by him but the TV commentators were praising him and you could tell that his line was doing exactly what is expected from a 4th line. They were defensively responsible and even able to create some decent pressure in front of the Swedish net in quite a few shifts... Hertl himself also threw a couple of good hits, including one that directly resulted in a scoring chance for his linemate and another one that should have resulted in a penalty for boarding.

Chris Peters @chrismpeters
BU might be inconsolable after the Beanpot consolation game. Terriers down 6-3 to Harvard in the third period. Weird year for BU.

Can't get stats but I do know Nieto has an assist, I think O'Regan has an assist, Blackwell had an assist for Harvard. It has been a bad year for BU.

Cody Ferriero and Northeastern take on Isaac MacLeod and BC in the Beanpot final today at 4:30. It's on NESN if you're in that area.

Edit: Harvard wins 7-4. BU finishes last in the Beanpot for the second time in 3 years.

Edit #2: BC wins 6-3, and wins another Beanpot. MacLeod had an assist and +2, Ferriero was a -2.

O'Regan leads Bu in points now. So there's that.

Hertl two goals yesterday.
Overall 28 points in 37 games (17G+11A) in Czech league.

This isn't specifically a Sharks prospect but BU / Parker has suspended sophomore Alexx Privitera for the rest of the season for "on ice" issues.

I have no idea what's going on at BU but that hockey program has been a complete mess recently. I wonder if not only Nieto is done after this season but if the org thinks of getting O'Regan out of there as well.
