Well excuse me Statler and Waldorf, but some of us liked it. No one said it was a saving grace. It's a fun, quick celebration that hurt no one, and the fans loved it.
It's not about the showboating, it's about doing everything possible to make Subban a team player. Therrien reads the critics, he knows what the players and fans think of Subban and wants that to change. That's just one of the steps in the right direction. I'm 100% sure that if Gionta and Plekanec were doing the triple low 5, Therrien wouldn't of done anything about it.

So, Therrien decided to take out the triple low five to stay humble after a victory. It's was funny but I think it's a good decision with the new philosophy of the club.

Well to me, the best way to be a contender is to build through the draft. The best way to build through the draft is to make good selections. The probability of making a good selection increases with the higher the draft pick. The more games you lose, the better chance you have at getting a high draft pick.
So when the season was obviously lost, no I wasn't cheering for them to win, because I realized it wasn't in the organization's best interest.
In this case, I agree with Therrien. Stay humble as you haven't won anything until you've won the Cup.
That's just me though, everyone else is entitled to their own opinion.
I don't know why some people are comparing this with celebrating after an important goal.
Maybe Therrien just want the team to celebrate together after a win, instead of two guys "celebrating" alone.
Seriously, how many teams in the NHL has two individuals celebrating together on the ice after a win while the rest of the team is skating back to the lockeroom?
I for one wouldn't mind having the team name or the city's name printed on the back with just numbers, in fact I think it's a great idea.
Bad analogy. That would only make sense if the players wearing the MONTREAL jersey were from Mtl.
People identify with certain players for various reasons. It could be because they play that position themselves and respect what it take to make it to that level or just because they like the player's personality.
The odds of winning a cup are very low. There are perennial contenders who never win it. Some teams win it but never repeat. It's not the 60's anymore. There are more teams and parity and we don't get a ton of great players from the Q. [edited to avoid flaming]
Real fans don't hold out celebrations for a cup win. Real fans celebrate every win and every little battle won, players 1st NHL goal and individual accomplishments as well. People who wait for playoff wins are called bandwagon fans.
Heck, if a Habs player had given Thornton a concussion, I would celebrate that as well.
