Listened to the Portland game while at work. Sounded like an exiting one, even with a 9-5 final.
I really like this team. The score isn't going to go our way a majority of the time, but they're not going to simply roll over just because they're in a rebuild.
Meanwhile, Kamloops is on a four game losing streak.
Pretty big blow to the Giants today - Marek Tvrdon is lost for the season. Seems like he had a blood clot of some nature in his shoulder. The good news is that he's expected to make a full recovery and be able to play hockey.
That's a huge blow. He was one of the few sources of offense left on this team, and the entire team will have to step up big with Tvrdon out. Franson might not be back for a while either, so it's not going to be easy.
On a side note, the entire Giants team sat one row ahead of me in the CAN/RUS game yesterday. Didn't ask for autographs, as that would've been just awkward.

Not only is it a huge blow offensively, we can't trade him at the deadline now.
I got to meet Craig Cunningham and Lance Bouma in the summer of 07. I got them to sign a Memorial Cup program. They really didn't know what to make of it, lol.

I once got Evander Kane, JD Watt and others to sign a Canucks jersey. JD thought it was pretty funny.
Teddy Bear Toss tonight, which usually attracts a crowd over 10,000. Hopefully tonight is no different. Atmosphere for these games are always great. And since we're playing Prince George, there may be a chance we can pull out a win!
G Liam Liston has retired from junior hockey and will attend the University of Alberta. No word on whether he's going to play for the Bears.
This puts the Giants in a tough spot as Payton Lee is off to shine at the World U17 Challenge, leaving Tyler Fuhr and a emergency call-up that can only play if Fuhr gets hurt.
So what will they get out of this last place year? Does this give them the right to lay claim to the next great 15 year old prospect headed to the WHL?
I'm heading to the game tomorrow for Joe Sakic night. I know the game starts at 7:30, but would that be the time for the pre-game ceremony as well? I would assume so but just double checking.
Pretty much. Kale Clauge is a defenseman out Llyodminster that has received a lot of high praise, leads the Bantam league in scoring for d-men. But given that the Giants are in dire need of a play maker, I can't see them not taking Benson. Scouts have said that he's ahead of where Brule was, and Brule made an impact in his first season.
