I don't think anyone was suggesting Burns might be back Thursday. If I had to guess, he's probably still a month away.

It'll be really good to get Demers back in the lineup (assuming the coaches play him). The Sharks need to get back to their puck possession game at ES and Boyle & Demers both help with that.

Attended practice today. Sharks lines looked like this:

Marleau - Jumbo - Pavs
Clowe - Couture - Sheppard
Handzus - Gomez - Havlat
Galiardi - Desi - Burrish
Wingels

Also, Burns seemed to be skating perfectly fine to me.

Swap Handzus with Galiardi, ice Wingels on the 4th line and I'm happy.

That's not terrible actually. Though that 2nd line is a bit slow heh.I'd swap Clowe and Havlat or something...

Sheppard's a decent skater, and Couture seems to be a bit quicker to the eye. But I see what you mean.

Moving Zus to wing is interesting, been wanting them to do that for a while.

And Wingels needs to sit a game or two, he's been brutal the past 3 or 4 games.
There's a few 'swaps' I'd like to see but a) I don't hate these lines and b) they'll probably remain this way for about a period...

how is sheppards shot? seems like an unbalanced second line.

but i wouldnt put clowe on the third line, hes lazy defensively without enough cover.

and i wouldnt put gali over handzus at this point, i think we may be overestimating his ability at this point in the season. hes not playing in Tmacs system like he should be.

Id much rather handzus winning those board battles for gomez to get the puck low and work with havlat.

That's interesting since Handzus is up there in faceoffs. I'd rather see Gomez on the wing than Handzus.

I agree. But given the play of the team so far, I like how those new lines look other than that.

If they want Zus to take faceoffs, it's pretty easy for him to take the faceoff. However, Gomez is leading the team in faceoff % right now (in his small sample size) so he's no slouch in the circle either.

-The penalty kill is improved.
-The top line is playing extremely well
-The power play is really good, but they still need to figure out the second unit.
-He has a good relationship with Larry Robinson.
-Scott Gomez doesn't need to worry about other people's expectations for him.
-Matt Irwin is doing a good job.
-He doesn't know when Brent Burns will be back.

Pretty much the obvious.

For anyone who was waiting and didn't notice (like me), the team has updated the downloadable calendars:

Seeing as how havlat has the third most shots taken on the team I'm going to say he will be the one shooting.

Marty Havlat. He's a playmaker, but he's plenty willing to shoot the puck. He's had multiple 5+ shot games this season. Had 6 shots yesterday, which tied him with Marleau for game-high.

Thornton has had multiple 5shot games this season already, i still see nobody calling him a shooter lol

Ever the Thornton homer, ain'tcha?

Havlat is averaging shot per game more than Thornton.

There is a meme that havlat is a pass first player. Ever since he came back from injury he's been shooting like crazy, so I don't think we can consider him a playmaker anymore.

Unlike Thornton, Havlat is more flexible. He's still pass first but he's willing to shoot while Thornton refuses to shoot unless he really really really has to.
