Gerbe is available, no reason to call anyone up.

I think they'd consider Tarnasky if McCormick isn't ready. Rolston seems to give him some tougher minutes, and he can handle the inevitable rough stuff with Boston. Looking at Rochester's other options makes clear how shallow the talent pool is at forward in this organization right now.

I don't see that at all, especially with Scott in the lineup. You have 3 guys who can go in Scott/Foligno/Ott up front.

Can Gerbe replace Kaleta's PK minutes?

Has Tarnasky been good on the PK in Rochester?

The overall talent level has gone down in the AHL.

So who replaces Hodgson, Foligno, and Brennan minutes? Other players can/have stepped it up (Varone, Porter, Flynn, Mancari, Sundher, everyone steps up a slot). And yes, Pardy.

#Amerks rookie LW Zemgus Girgensons (concussion) skating in red no-contact sweater. Won't play thus weekend, but him skating is a good sign.

The Amerks look fantastic tonight. 2-0 in the first, though it could easily be three times that. McNabb with two beautiful plays to set up Porter for the second goal. Hopefully it's the start of McNabb turning it around for good. (He's been much better the last handful of games I've seen.)

Gotta admit, it's a little bit sad to see Timmy slogging it out in the AHL. Guy's been through hell with injuries throughout his career. He's good enough to help an NHL team and you'd have to think there'd be a lot of interest if it weren't for his salary.

Just started watching tonight's game. Amerks already up 2 - 0.

5-1 final. Mancari with the hat trick on a late 5-on-3. Apparently Freddie Roy whooped someone, too.

He put Kenny Ryan down with a good right hand. Definite TKO.

"168" pounds versus 210, nice. Roy looked good in a scrap earlier in the year, too.

According to Bille Hoppe, the Amerks have signed Patrick Rissmiller to a AHL try-out contract.

It's good to hear that McNabb is coming back to form. If he can get back to last years level of play, along with the addition of Pardy, then their defense should be pretty good.

Agreed. It's nice to see Darcy go after a vet who clearly is just for the Amerks and isn't also a "project" for the Sabres. He rarely signs guys with 0 NHL future. Rissmiller has good size, brings experience, and can still put up some points at the AHL level.

Has McNabb had a resurgence of sort? I haven't been watching but I've noticed he's been on the score sheet a lot more.

He been a lot better. 3A last night (one of which was the result of a spectacular keep in and pass) and 2A tonight. Things have turned around since the lockout ended.

McNabb almost got some revenge for Girgensons a moment ago, but Panik was able to sidestep the hip check at the blue line. 5-1 now as Sundher and Porter have also potted goals.

What's got into the Amerks? Sabrefan27 made a comment a while back about how the team might get better once the lockout ended(I forget his reasoning), but he was right.

A lot of teams had a ton of talent stashed in the AHL. The Sabres had Brennen, Foligno, and Hodgson, which was solid, but nothing compared to what say Edmonton had on their farm. Now that the playing field has been leveled somewhat, the Amerks a solid team. Of course, once the non-playoff NHL teams send all their guys back for the AHL postseason, that playing field changes again.
