Very impressed by Vatanen. I don't think he knows that he's 5'9 He hasn't been spectacular defensively, but I don't think anyone expected him to be.. But he's definitely better than I anticipated him to be. He's a stud in the offensive zone.. but we all knew that

Fasth is my main concern right now, but the team seems to be sensing it, and covering his butt. The goal he gave up was street hockey quality.

Wish the top line could assert some dominance, seeing we're getting the match-ups. Where's the deadly cycle? When Winnick played there for a stretch, the deadly cycle was in full effect. MB just kinda circles around the offensive zone like a dog looking for a place to do his business, but not sure where the best spot is.

Lost in the Vatanen hype, is his partner Sbisa, who has played a very controlled, intelligent game. knowing who his partner is, Sbisa is keeping it safe and simple

Yeah. I think this is what we expected/hoped for from him. I like the added mobility on the blue line too. I know we wanted to get bigger, but it really felt like our blue line was slow.

I agree. He's a perfect fit for 4C on this team. Not good enough to be the 2C, but still a valuable player to have

Excellent point. Unfortunately, Vatanen is probably going to mean a more conservative game from Sbisa(or it should), but that might be good. They've played well together.

I'm gonna agree with this. He's got the size to handle it and I'd argue that with Getzlaf feeding him the puck he can get some prime chances.

If Etem or DSP can find their scoring touch Bonino with those two plus Vatanen should put up some points. As long as the other team isn't too big anyway.

Indeed, BB may have found something by putting Sbisa there, some defensemen can play either side well. Some have to be on a specific side

Honestly our best group of defensemen, probably has Allen as the 7th D.

Fowler/Lydman
Beauch/Souray
Sbisa/Vatanen

Allen is fine....til he touches the puck

I've always thought that Sbisa would be an ideal partner for Fowler. We've discussed at nausea Sbisa's natural abilities and hockey sense, or lack thereof, in the other thread, but like Sojourn said, a more conservative game from Sbisa seems to be when he plays best.

Some of you guys are too hard on Allen. He was brought in not to move the puck but to clear the creast. I think he has added the bulk we need to not get pushed around in front.

Well so far Ryan looks good at center, it forces him to be more engaged, as for LW i want to see Etem get a shot soon

If you got a legit 2nd line C(which ain't easy), you can maybe go RPG again.
