Since Luongo is clearly still the starer in Vancouver, let's go and get Schneider.

He really hasn't been that impressive at all. Factor in what it would cost to get him, and his cap hit... Well, quite frankly, I'm perfectly fine with Crawford at just above $2M.

You mean waste a roster spot again on guy who just spends entire games on bench and when he does step on ice wont fight unless someone agrees to code BS

Rather have a legit tough guy then a worthless goon

Bollig is much better. He's got some use to him.

Viktor is an UFA after this season.
Time to trade (or sign+trade) him in a package with a prospect for a 2C now that Bolland looks to be out for a while (assuming?)

Our 1st rounder will have more value then Stalberg ,, Teams will want that in what looks like pretty good draft

You'd better measure that sandwich.

I'd be all for Loktionov, but I love his game. His hands are Kane good.

I think Loki would be a solid pickup.

He is never going to get a shot in LA. Their center depth is absurd.

I have spoken my piece on Konopka in another thread.

Another name I have asked for years for is Marty Reasoner who we actually had for a few seconds!

but my main target would be a power winger that plays with a physical edge. they are coveted types and look what Kassian cost the Nucks to get, but we need to find a way to get someone with some balls, a non stop motor, size, and loves to hit...any reasonable names come to mind??

...I am sure someone will say Troy Brouwer!!

If the Caps keep self destructing, I really hate to say it but Ribiero might be worth a look, provided his contract is up at the end of the year. I hate that slimy mother ****er but he's got a nasty streak that I could definitely imagine being an asset in the playoffs.... provided our PK is still dominating of course.

Shane Doan was the guy I wanted, but you're right, this type is hard to come by. I was pissed when Canucks grabbed Kassian and we stayed put. Now he looks like a real keeper for Canucks and a body guard for the sisters - he was well worth the price.

This. He can actually keep up with our game. Also, his shot isn't terrible.

Eller or Bozak is still what I would like. A guy who can double as a short term 2nd line solution and a long term 3rd line solution as well.

Wouldn't mind the Hawks taking a chance on Plekanec.

I dont think anyone would be against that move

Problem is what would Habs want for him? TT + Danault +

To steep a price for a #2 C ,, Also that contract will be issue to fit going into next year and beyond

Especially with uncertaintly over Montadro/Olesz and our ability to buy either out (Player must be healthy to be bought out)

Plekanec would be a great addition.. but they couldn't afford him going forward, nor could they afford any big-ticket forwards.

2013-14 with Plekanec/any big ticket forward:

FORWARDS
Brandon Saad ($0.894m) / Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m)
Patrick Sharp ($5.900m) / Tomas Plekanec ($5.000m) / Patrick Kane ($6.300m)
Viktor Stalberg ($2.875m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Andrew Shaw ($0.565m)
Daniel Carcillo ($0.825m) / Marcus Kruger ($1.351m) / Kyle Beach ($0.650m)
Brandon Bollig ($0.575m) /

DEFENSEMEN
Brent Seabrook ($5.800m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m)
Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) / Johnny Oduya ($3.383m)
Nick Leddy ($2.900m) / Sheldon Brookbank ($1.250m)
Ryan Stanton ($0.650m) /

GOALTENDERS
Corey Crawford ($2.667m)
Henrik Karlsson ($0.700m)

OTHER
Buyout: Rostislav Olesz ($0.000m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,190,628; BONUSES: $82,500
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): -$1,808,128

So, even if you trade Frolik, buy-out Olesz and even if Montador stays on LTIR or gets bought-out, Chicago simply can't afford another high-priced forward. You'll have people who'll say "Don't resign Stalberg (or trade him)" but that doesn't really matter because you'll need to sign someone else to play with Bolland that could score 15-20 goals.

The only way Chicago could do it is if they trade Bolland and then play Shaw, Kruger, Danault or McNeill as the checking line centre next year. Out of those options, the two best are Danault and Kruger but Danault would be a rookie and Kruger, while much improved, still isn't as good as Bolland. Not to mention, Bolland goes into beast mode in the playoffs.

Couple things

- No way is Leddy get 2.9M ,, Look at Kulikov/Subban and there deals. Leddy will likely get a 2.1M type cap hit
- Stalberg will get more on UFA market (Kopecky/Ward are 3M forwards) so he is gone
- Beach wont be given a contract by Hawks

Only way to afford Plekanec is to successfully buyout Monty/Olesz and trade Bolland

He's also much younger and has much more time to hone his skills.
