Rich Peverley looked like a wholly average mucker in Nashville. He played with everyone from Arnott and Sullivan to Fiddler and Tootoo, and he just could not find a place. Goes on waivers, goes to Atlanta and explodes, then to Boston where he became Raptor Jesus.
Sad thing about him, is that everyone always said that he had wicked skills. Old boss was family friends with the Tootoo family. Jordin said to watch him once he left.

No but Niskanen apparently was. From everything we heard on the trade board, Niskanen was a cap/body coming back... yet played great last year, and was on our top pairing with Letang this year (before getting hurt).
As others have mentioned, Steen has been a great player for the blues.
I know it is early, but Redden is looking very good so far with the Blues. He's a great pair with Pietrangelo and if he keeps it up he'll find a spot somewhere making a couple million next year (maybe St. Louis). He's a solid defender and has a great pass and shot. He's not blazing fast but he hasn't needed to be in this system.
I never got why he was let go in the first place. Good on the Ducks for quickly re-signing him the 2nd time around.
Whitney and Wiz looked amazing in the 2 months they played in Anaheim and they could pay Pronger Scotty Whitney Wiz AND Beauchemin. Beauchemin was also coming off a torn ACL.
Unfortunately Whitney and Wiz sucked ass the next year which left the Ducks with 1 top 4 defender.

Because Murray is an idiot. Even with wiz and Whitney, there was still a hole in the top 4. And Murray proceeded to fill it with Eminger and washed up Boynton. That move ultimately cost us Gardiner. The trade didn't bother me, it's the fact that Murray had to trade such an asset to get something he should have just kept in the first place.
In Murray's defense though, team looks terrific so far this year.
The Brad Boyes for Dennis Wideman trade benefited both a few years ago.
Boyes had a great rookie year but went into a big sophomore slump. Boston traded him to St. Louis and he put up 43 goals in his first season with the Blues and then 72 points in his second season. He would regress, though.
Wideman was up and down while with the Blues and overall was just average with potential. He went to Boston and ate up 25 minutes a night and put up 50 points in his second full year with the Bruins.

He was struggling by comparison to the player he was the previous season. He spent too much time floating and wasn't very engaged in puck battles, it's like his confidence was shot after that suspension he had previously and he wouldn't play with the same edge he did before. Combine that with Benn coming in and doing all the things Neal had stopped doing and there was an opportunity to trade him for what GMJN thought would be an answer to our lack of a PMD.
Glad to see he regained that style when he was traded, thought he never would've hit 40 goals here in Dallas.

Wasn't the name Raptor Jesus coined when he was still in Atlanta?
