I was at the game last night (ND v W) and thought that both Mersch and Forbort had good games. I will be at tonights game too and will write something up tomorrow. Jack plays all 3 forward positions at times but I have only watched him play in person twice over the past 3 years. I did get to see him this past week and he looked really good. Still developing and at 5'10" here's hoping he stills shoots up a couple inches but he has really nice hands.
For Canadian fans of the Kings Nic Dowd and Kevin Gravel are playing on TheScore network right now. Just saw a great pass by Gravel lead to Dowd goal! Only bad part is watching Bjugstad dominate. Still wish we had drafted him instead of Forbort. Gravel showing his potential to replace Mitchell with a great glove save on 5-3 kill lol
Can one of our OHL watchers comment on Ebert? The kid was the ultimate potential steal of the draft last year, so I'm curious on if he's coming back around or not. Stats look similar to last year (outside of his +/-) but stats only tell one part of the story too.

I was curious about that myself. I've heard he has some question marks with his decision making and general hockey IQ. Not sure about that, never seen him play.

Nick's stats to date are:

24a
33pts
I have to admit that I have only spent a few minutes watching NE play this season so I sent an email off to a friend of mine who covers the Spitfires for a Windsor paper and asked him what he thought about NE's play so far.
He says that allot of his (NE's) detractors never really see how valuable he is to his teams success. He plays in every huge situation and is a key dman for the Spitfires and had to overcome a few key troubles (Injured players and goalie troubles etc) and that the majority of his +/- troubles came during a particularly bad stretch for the entire team.
NE is a really good skater who hits hard and has a HUGE shot. He is years away from pro hockey (18yo) but if he can put it all together he might be a very good player.
He is currently a very big part of the Spitfires, was a rookie of the year winner and has been player of the game a couple of times this season. He has his set backs but he is a very high reward dman when he is on his game.
I respect JP's takes on hockey so while I haven't seen much of NE's game myself (can't watch em all ) I think he looks pretty good so far.
I don't know if any of this helps but there ya go.
So right now is Derek Forbort's junior year? I guess he has another year of school eligibility, meaning we probably won't see him in Manchester till 2014-2015.. Wow, talk about a project pick lool the guy was selected in 2010. I'd love to have Tarasenko contributing to the team. Oh well, hope he pans out
Haven't heard much about Hyka so far this season.
I see he has a line of 43gms 15g 29a 20 pms and a +6.
Any scouting report/thoughts on how his season is progressing?

Stats wise he got off to a slow start but has now edged himself over a point per game. I think the real telling point on him will be what he's like as a pro. He's likely a 3rd line/PK guy IMO, so stats shouldn't tell the whole story with him. He isn't being drafted for his offensive game from what I see of him.

I remember hearing how slight he is at 160lbs. It'll be interesting to see how he does once he gets to Manch in a few years.

I saw him play on TV during the WJCs on his country's top line and he looked good. For what it's worth he reminded me of Loktionov but with a little better quickness.

He's at a great university for grooming NHLers in UND, he'll be fine, I'm sure lots of teams wished they drafted Tarasenko, hindsight is 20/20.
You know what I just realized? The Kings have 5 players in their system (off the top of my head) who played for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhound. Jeff Carter, Jake Muzzin, Jordan Nolan, Michael Schumaucher and Colin Miller. I think that's the most players we have come from the same system in our prospects.
Next up, I think, are the Calgary Hitmen: Brandon Kozun, Alex Roach and Martin Jones. Two of those guys were undrafted signings.
Barrie Colts (2): Kyle Clifford and Tanner Pearson
Kitchener Rangers (2): Justin Azevedo and Mike Richards
Guelph Storm (2): Dustin Brown & Drew Doughty
These are legitimately off the top of my head, can anyone help me out?
