I don't think he deserves it at all.
Not only he was put on the wing, a spot that he never played well before, but he's playing with our two worst forwards. Is MT expecting Eller to revive that line by himself? Even Pacioretty did not do anything with that line and he's our best winger.
So yeah, lets put a center on the wing, that always sucked there, and wish he can magically made that line work again.
Did Eller got any real chance to produce? Like playing in his natural position? Playing with decent wingers? Getting some PP time? No. Yet, he's the one to blame. While DD is getting ragdolled out there but still getting all the chances in the world to produce.

The guy did prove that he was at the very least a reliable player, Plekanec-lite, and yet, after spending several months with scrubs last year, now, he's litterally left behind by the staff.
What did he do to deserve this ? He should probably go west, where someone will make a better use of his talent.
Say what ?? He's nowhere close to Plekanec, actually they're nothing alike at all. Eller is a young player who obviously isn't liked by Therrien.

I hate this over importance put on fighting. He knows he messed up and that he's a marginal player, has to pay for what he did and come back more focused. Absolutely no problem whatsoever to bench him, but some how White is now the mvp of this team because he faught a few times

I said it before the season even started. MT and MB singled out Lars Eller and Subban. The treatment they've shown to both as been pure bush league.
Common dude, eller's doesn't play with enough heart, the point of benching him was to light a fire under his but, so he finally play at his full potentiel. During the offseason Rick Dudley said that Lars Eller was definetly a top 6 forward so i understand why they want to get him going.
Its actually smart to go with 7 D for tonight, Pk hasn't played hockey for ages. It's a good way to ease him in the lineup. Totally get the decision.

I'm hopeful that PK will be able to play well and put in a lot of minutes, but I completely get while Therrien might want to have a safety net for the first game or two. If he tries to turn playing 7 defensemen into a long-term thing I'll definitely have a problem with it, but right now I think people are freaking out over nothing. This is not being disrespectful to Subban; it's trying to make sure the team is in a position to succeed if there's a lot of rust.
