Remaining "Gems"

TSN listed something like 23 "gems" (their words, not mine) of the UFA market, 12 of which have already gone. Of the remaining 11, who - if any - do you want?

Jason Arnott
Anson Carter
Bill Guerin
Michael Peca
Mark Recchi
Jeremy Roenick
Sergei Samsonov
Brendan Shanahan
Doug Weight
Brendan Witt
Manny Lagace

Of course not everybody at once, but I would like to se at least one of them coming to Philly...

Guerin and Roenick could be signed around 1-2 milj $, it would take 3-4 for Arnott, Peca and Weight, maybe more...

Add Sukora, Straka, Colin White (good one), Salei, Markov, Steve Rucchin (not my favorite), Nolan.

None of the Above.

Maybe Guerin cheap. If there's one forward left that I think would be a good fit it would be Alyn McCauley.

Would it be worth it to look into any of these forwards?

Petr Cajanek
Shean Donovan
Eric Daze
Jeff Halpern
Mike Leclerc
Alyn McCauley

I bolded the guys I'd like, underlined the guys I wouldn't mind...I want Samsonov the most...although Pittsburgh let a couple guys go that are decent players too...Surovy, Koltsov, Hilbert...

I'd add Roenick before Guerin. They're both broken down at this point. The only difference is that Roenick can play two positions and the PK.

Samsonov is the only one of that list I would pay market value for. The rest would have to take a significant pay cut to play for me, if I were GM.

teppo nummenim and aaron ward would both be help on defence, but that would probably take a buyout or trade of our slower D.

What about Jeff Friesen? No one has taken him yet. I'd take him over those guys.

I wouldn't mind having Roenick back for cheap just for his attitude. He liked his time here. I wouldn't pay him much, but he's a gamer (albeit on his last legs).

You wouldn't want Samsonov? I think he'd be a good playmaker on the wing for Carter.

I want McCauley, maybe Sykora, maybe Carter and maybe, who knows, some defense help. Danny Markov?

yea i think that he would be a great fit as a great second line scoring threat. We could even use him on the first line with Gags till Foppa gets back. Honestly I thik that Clarke is saving this cap space money and getting cheap help in order to sign a guy exaclty like samsonov. if we get a scoring THREAT for the scond line then we will be good. We need help at wing. UNless Rosie is going to be the next Afinagenov...

Eric Daze still plays hockey?? Not trying to be a smartass, but I had forgotten all about him.

It's worth it.

Alyn McCauley is a pretty good player if we don't get Carter, but there has to be more moves coming

We've got like 4-5 M left to spend right? I say try and bring in Markov and Peca, and that would be good in my opinion.

Sillinger goes to the Isles. Has there been peep from Mike Grier's camp?

Of the list I posted, I think I only like Samsonov - on a line with Carter and Umberger. Yeah I like that.

I'd say that Cajanek is certainly worth a shot if he can play wing.

Sykora 3+ ?

If we sign Daze we can make a push for the Kings record in man games lost to injury next season.
