If you need a playmaking wing sign Tommi Jokinen out of the UFA list. Finished his career in Philly with around 800 points in 1000 games. Scores like 15 goals a season but just racks up those assists.

What wing, how old and what year did you do this?

Doesn't always work like that. I've seen that guy sign in the 2013 off season, play two seasons about 45-50 games each then never get signed again. I've also seen a guy named Antti Roppo scored 45 goals in his first season, jump to 87 overall then go on to score over 500 goals. I've also seen him never get out of the AHL if he does indeed get signed.

That's my second favorite way to get a game misconduct in '12.

My favourite is when you hit a player into the benches.

This game is ridiculous. I bought it recently and went to play it but no player has had green stars. They're all yellow. I went to look at them and the majority are 2.5 yellow. That includes some good players too like Ekblad and Domi and a bunch more. I don't have online so unless I want to manually change almost every single prospect, then I'm stuck with this garbage. I shouldn't have to pay the money to change everything myself. It should already come in the game. Talk about laziness.

Yea when the game came out none of the prospects were rated very well at all...

Yeah I changed it all myself, took hours.

And it ends up not mattering much anyway because some players just don't develop properly. I change Ekblad and Jones both to 78 OVR 5 Green Stars and in 5 years neither of them is in the 80s. McDavid the same way. And then there's some players who jump, I raised Sam Reinhart to 73 4 1/2 yellow stars and when he was drafted he was 85 overall, in the same draft Eklad hadn't changed at all, still 78.

I usually get the stanchion goal when the goalie goes behind the net to stop the puck...has happened to me about 6 times.

And the natural floater from the neutral zone that literally skips over his pad into the net. The goalie's either suck really bad or are impossible to score on. Then again, I've had a goalie playing like it'd be impossible to score on him, let in a fluky goal and then the wheels came off.

I've done plenty of GM modes with regular rosters and kind of wanted to switch it up a bit.
You can snatch every single top prospect in the game, the AI won't touch them until last few rounds. It drafts older guys probably based on overall and postition only.

Ranked 29th on the PP with Toronto. Switched from Umbrella to Rush the net to see if that makes a difference.

I never touch the strategy, got too little knowledge of what is best to use and why.

Yep, that's pretty much how it went down. I got Tarasenko, Hamilton, Gormley, Pouliot, Girgorenko, Galchenyuk, Yakupov, and a bunch more that I can't think of. I also drafted enough older players that I won the cup the first year. I think I'm going to start a new one without a fantasy draft. It's silly. Not nearly as fun as regular GM.

Anyone else getting games where you or the AI puts up 80+ hits in a game? The periods are only set up to be 12-15 minutes long. It's weird because it only started happening recently and I remember games where I would go out of my way to be extra physical and only register around 40 hits in a game in the past.

Ok so I am late to the NHL 13 party. Wasn't going to get it this year but hot it as a gift. Question to all. Obviously they changed the skating a bit this year, I do not like the feel of it; is there a way to turn it off?

Also, am I going crazy or is there a longer lag between changing your active player than in years past? Seems its a much slower response time, which I notice a lot more when I am on the defensive

Any and all input would be appreciated

Turn off what? ...the skating? No more than you can turn off the hitting.

If you're mostly griping about OTP, most people hated it upon release before they got points into their skater. A lot of people warmed up to it once they got used to it.

I only really ever play Be a GM mode. The new skating system (the one they changed from every other version) is what I've been having a hard time adjusting to the feel of it.

Opinion time.
The new skating system is decent. There are parts I like and parts I dislike. For example, I like the fact that you have to slow down to turn. You can't use the hustle button (which in my opinion should not be in the game) and go full speed and then turn on a dime anymore. Realistic? I don't give a ****. Fun? Possibly. I also like (and also dislike) the fact of the moves that I can pull by just pulling the left trigger to instantly change direction. While that's good for what I do, those with boners for realism might not enjoy that.
I also dislike not having an exclusive button for vision control or for hooking.
