I'd like to see it, too, but I wouldn't be upset if I didn't see it this season. Stats and simulators fail to predict the productivity of player combinations because there's absolutely no calculation for chemistry or confidence. If playing beside Prust provides the kind of results we're seeing, let that play out for as long as you can. Once the rookie season is in the books, it's fair to start testing the young guys with more responsibilities, but leave MaxPac with the "big boys" where he's needed for now, imo.

Bigger question is what to do with Nokes.

Yeah but last year when he had the puck he was at least trying, this year we're seeing him get a lot of time with the puck and no tangible effort or good vision.

Don't think so. Diaz made one mistake but looked pretty solid defensively to me.

One mistake? He was handling the puck like it was a grenade. We are lucky this was a tired Buffalo squad, he was a mess.

Keep in mind, 1 shot after 1 period means Price had 30 shots over 2 periods, on pace for 45 over a full game. That's a heavy workload over a shot period of time, and a good chunk of those saves were not easy. He fully deserved his star tonight.

So if Patches comes back tomorrow, we shouldn't play him a huge amount of ice time until he shows he can do it so soon after surgery.

Gionta-Plekanec-Bourque

The top line looked awesome and was a threat all game, Bourque completely won me over this game. If he keeps this up, I'm going to have no problem forgetting we ever had calamari on the team.

Eller-Desharnais-Cole

Eller and Desharnais clearly have some chemistry so I'd keep them together for tomorrow. Cole can stay there for now. If he plays tomorrow like he did today, it's about time MT tightens the leash on his lazy, disinterested efforts.

Prust + G^2

Don't change a thing here. Prust is perfect to compliment the two kids and I wouldn't change this line all season.

Pacioretty-White-Armdog/Moen

I really didn't want to scratch one of Armdog/Moen as our 4th line wingers are great grinders, but the lack of centers (plus my want to keep Eller with Desharnais) means we need White back in the lineup for the game. As far as I'm concerned, we can bench either. I think I'm leaning towards Moen since he was somewhat invisible today, but I'm attached to Moen from his work in the last few seasons so I don't know. Flip a coin.

Armstrong definitely deserves to be the 13th forward.

NHL.com has Markov at +1 and Diaz as -1.

EDIT: Emelin with zero hits and 18:28 of ice time? What.

I almost jizzed in my pants when I saw Markov and PK together on the PP, then PK got a shot on the post, I thought we'd score.... then I jizzed in my pants.

I'll chalk it up to that, but Kaberle didn't even look that bad with the puck.

It's great to feel this excitement over Bourque and he deserves credit for playing great but every Chicago and Calgary fan will tell you that this has happened throughout his entire career. He's a hot and cold player. That said, I'm enjoying his play now and hopes he erases his unreliable stigma.

^Looks like someone who thought Komisareck was the next habs captain. Markov has that tendency, you'll figure it out one day.

The good thing with this team his not many of our player have a reputation of being lazy. We know Bourque and Kaberle has that tendency but no other i can think of. So we know we will get an effort every day. So we have real depth that we can depend on.

In past years we had a bunch of them, the Kostitsyns, Kovalev, Gomez, Pouliot and we can go on and on.
