Didn't want to believe it when I first saw it. This kid has that extra second to think while his opponents, and line, react. It is there.

Did anyone see the kids barking at each other about who takes who in the defensive zone? Saw it on the CBC panel... That's impressive for young rookies.

It's easy to forget Ribeiro and Ryder in 2003-2004 with Ryder even being nominated for the Calder and each having 60 points. However, both were close to their mid 20s as rookies.

However, Galchenyuk is making an argument for being the best 18 year old rookie in Canadiens history (though he turns 19 in a week and a half!) and one of the best under 20s in a very long time.

I love this post due to idiots here saying Montreal should have drafted Grigs, but once the joke has worn off I do hope people recognize that Grigs and Yakupov are both very good players who will do well for their respective teams.

That said, Galchenyuk is perfect for Montreal.

He was great against every Sabre on the dot. Even Hodgson who was good against the other Habs at center.

Okay. Question @ 1000$ bucks:

Do you think Galchenyuk genuinely saw Eller on the Danish's goal? Or it was kind of a lucky play?

Alex Galchenyuk didn't really agree with his selection as first star tonight. "I think a couple of other guys deserved first star."

So humble.

wow. He was by far the best player, and judging by the past 2 games where his confidence has grown leaps and bounds...I'd go as far to say he's the Habs' 2nd best forward behind Pacioretty(with Gallagher right behind him).

Gally was everywhere tonight + he started to "try" to play physical and he's going to the net.

I'm sure he knew someone was near, but i'm also sure that it wasnt intented to be a pass. He lost the puck deking and it ended up on Eller stick.

Don't blow things out of proportion.

The Veteran Line (Plek's) has been extremely reliable since season start.

This. The rookies are playing great, but their success is making people forget the consistency and great plays of our other veterans this season, namely Plekanec, Bourque and Gionta.

Timmins is looking really good for picking Galchenyuk over Forsberg and Grigorenko.

What happens to Eller when Pacioretty comes back? Cole seems to be the only top 9 forward who's not doing very well, although he had good chemistry with Pacioretty last season. I would suggest putting Eller on the wing with the Gallys and giving Cole another chance with Desharnais and Pacioretty.

We had 7 D today, so one of Kabby/Diaz/Boullion/Emelin to the pressbox. Only Gorges and Markov are locks from the opening night 6 D.

i'm happy for plek more than anyone. he's been so patient, putting up with BS, keeping his mouth shut. he's been dying to play intelligent hockey with people who know how to play intelligent hockey. he thrives on a team like this. last year he was trying to clean up everyone's mess. this year he is bosslike.
