I really don't want any Bruins to fight tonight (except of course something happens on the ice). Just go out there and pound them on the scoreboard, the physical play is just a nice little extra.

But: I never understood the concept that goons somehow protect their team's skilled players. Seriously, how would Orr prevent Lucic, horton or whomever from taking liberties with Kessel? He isn't on the ice when that happens. Can someone explain?

They protect players like Kessel, JvR, Lupul etc. Of course he won't be in the line but they would know that if they took liberties with Kessel that Orr would get them at one point in the game.

Not dressing them at all...and Lucic etc can do whatever they want.

I'm not saying Lucic would do that, just giving an example that it's better than having an enforcer to keep everything under control and if necessary, retaliate.

Because they know that if they take liberties against someone like Kessel there will be a response either against them or one of your skilled players.

yeah but staying with your example, he can't force Lucic to fight, can he? Of course he can throw a cheapshot, but would that work? And even if it did, it just gives Boston a two or maybe even five minute PP. The way I see it , it would just cause Orr being out on the ice more with Lucic' line, which the bruins would love. Maybe it's just my relative ínexperience with hockey and its "code", but I wouldn't think that would stop Lucic. Thatnks for the explanation anyways

You know who annoys me? Kathyrn Tappen from NHLN. I still don't understand what she has to add to the game. Specially after the games when she does the interviews of one of the players from the winning team. She says nothing.I want to hear from people that know the game. I'm sorry I just had to share that. lol

Drop the Puck already.

time for the offense to put a number to the scoreboard

14 Bruins with points 8-2 score

Dougie first goal
Seguin first real goal
Tardif snipes
Marchand with a hat trick 2 on the powerplay
Rask with 27 saves, 5 on Kessel includeing a breakaway.

players have pride, and tough guys have pride, if Orr asks Lucic to fight, it hurts Lucic to say no, in many ways

Orr isnt above going out and taking liberties against guys like Seguin or Krejei if Lucic is doing it to Kessel.

I hope Marchand keeps up his high level of play.

Chara needs to 1. pick up his defensive play and 2. stop getting penalties.

It might hurt him, but him taking the trade-off with Orr hurts the team. Lucic doesn't seem to me like a selfish guy.

What's the chance he actually manages to injure them? 1:1000? The B's should be happy for every minute Orr tries to run at Krejci or Seguin, because if our skill lines are out against your 4th, we will most likely score.

Same can be said. If he puts himself above the team and contribute to a loss due to poor judgement or worse selfishness.
