UFA under the Radar

I was looking through the UFA list and thought these players could give a hand to the HABS.

Oleg Kvasha LW 27yo Phoenix
Konstantin Kolstov RW 25 yo Pittsburgh

I saw both play in the past and both were impressive. Kvasha in a power forward offensive role and Koltsov in a defensive role.

These players should not be very expensive and would serve as a transition until such time guys like Kostitsyn, Lapierre and Latendresse are ready.

What are your thougths

My thoughts are that Kostitsyn and Lapierre both seems ready so, personally, I'm only looking for Top 6 material to get rid of Ribeiro or Zednik... I dont think Kvasha is what we're looking for as top-6 material

I thought I saw that Koltsov had recently signed in Russia? Not that I'd be interested in him anyway. It sounds like he skates well, but doesn't even have the hands or occasional energy of a Jan Bulis.

Not sure that Kvasha is an upgrade over Ribeiro...

And also, Ribs might breakout this year...he was good in the playoffs!

Why give up on him. He played so-so last year and still put up over 50 points (I think). You don't just give up on these types of players

I agree...but if we can upgrade now, I would be all for it. But if we can't, well hope he'll have a career year...

I've always been high on Kolstov , he is a high speed foward , he would perfectly fit on our 2nd line

I hope to hell we stay away from Kvasha.

He would immediately become our forward version of Breezy.

Guaranteed.

Everyone would hate him.

Ya time to give up and find another project. Ribs is too ****ing lazy to play every night, we don't need players like him

although I dont want anymore wingers unless its of the power forward variety, I've always wondered how JP Dumont would play in a habs uniform..... 28 years old.... all the talent in the world and always seems to play well against the habs.

This guy could have been so much more. He reminds me of richer in that sense.

I dont think he is UFA, or RDS would have make a special tv show to show to everyone that a frenchman who score 30 goals in the NHL is UFA, and some riot would have explose everywhere in MTL becuz Gainey dont sign him yet

why can't it be that one of Perez, Kosty, Lats,or higgs, becomes one of the top 6 forwards we want to acquire via Free agency sure they are not the supposed guarantee but i'd much rather give them the chance now than bury them with 3rd and 4th line minutes its time to let the hard work of the scouting staff over the last 6 years come to fruition.
