Detroit needs a goaltender. They already said that they won't sign Legace. And the only goalies left on the UFA market are Belfour and Hasek...
So if you look at the goalie that are on the market (Aebischer, Giguere, Nabokov, Cloutier) Aebischer is the only form the East Conference
So might detroit be a the more possible place where we can trade Aebischer
Sorry for my poor English
Good point! I think you could be on to something. It would be nice to bundle Aebischer, Ribeiro and Zednik for Lang and Shanahan. Zednik is dead so why keep him around any longer, move him while he still has a little bit of value left.
Whatever happens, I just hope the Habs make a few moves, I hate watching them sit around while all the free agents get picked up.

You can trade for Lang, but Shanahan is a UFA and won't be traded unless Bob is a total idiot. Detroit could be a possible landing spot for Aebisher, he played in the West and they know what they would be getting in return and they do have some players that can be traded. Lang and Kovy have a good history together (Pitt).
Shanny is a left winger and Kovy is a right winger so it ould make sense to make a trade for Lang and to sign Shanny to have a top line like that to complament a line of Koivu, Higgins and Ryder.

OMG those are 2 sick lines. WOW, WOW, lol don't know what to say, plus on our third we would have like perez bonk and kost maybe? I don't really know who we have at this point to make lines, but looks a lot better then a few years back
If you hadn't said this, I would have thought english was your native language.
You raise a good point regarding goaltenders on the market, and Aebischer being the only one from the East. I do wonder two things:
1) Does Detroit feel Aebischer is good enough to be on a Cup contender?
2) Does Detroit like Biron as much, or more than Aebischer?
I think your second question is the important one. Cause as for the 1st, there is no real elite goaltender left on the market. And don't give me Nabokov Didn't Abby beat Detroit one year in the playoffs ?? Anyway, the only 2 teams that are still in obvious need of a goalie are detroit and Los Angeles

It doesn't really matter who you or I consider elite goaltenders; it just matters who Detroit does. I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit felt Nabokov was elite, or if they wanted to give Hasek another shake.
I think Buffalo is more interested in trading Biron than we are interested in trading Aebischer.
And interestingly enough, those guys like Giguere and Nabokov haven't gone anywhere yet. Moving Aebischer to Detroit still doesn't seem very hopeful to me.

It's possible Detroit feel Nabokov is an elite goalie but there is NO WAY they are re-signing Hasek after what happenned with him the 1st time He left in disgrace with a lot of players and members of management feeling hostility and resentment towards him.
Just to add my view on things here, being this is discussing Aebischer. Alot of Wings fans, myself included, don't see Aebischer as enough of an upgrade over Legace. As for the poster who asked if he beat Detroit one year in the playoffs, the answer is no. The only time he played as a starter in the playoffs,Colorado and Detroit didn't meet up at all.
As for Hasek,he will not be going back to Detroit. As one of you pointed out already,he caused way too many problems the last time he was there, and Holland made it clear right after that Hasek would not be a Red Wing again. They did re-sign Ozzie for the backup position, but he may still get the chance at some point during the season to win the starter job.
As for a Lang for Zednik trade goes,it sounds fair but what is his contract like? Also, how does he play? Detroit needs some speed and grit upfront,so it wouldn't make sense to trade for him if the contract is too much,or if he isn't the type of player that they need.
