WHY doesn't the NHL insist that the west coast teams start at a reasonable time on the weekends? They should have to start by 7:00 PST on weekdays instead of 7:30. I get that they're saying it's because of traffic... everyone else has traffic too, so start earlier. And on the weekend, there is just no excuse at all to start at 7:30. It should be a 5:00 start at the latest.
It's just better for television and building that "National Audience" that the league desires. The western teams will never build a national following if nobody can ever watch them.

Yep- it's always been a pet peeve of mine- even with our home games, why not start Saturday games at 6:00?? What reason is there to wait until 7 or 7:30 as some teams do?? I'll bet the overwhelming majority of fans would prefer 6:00 or even 5:00...

I follow the San Diego Padres in baseball, and although it's not a national TV move by any means, all of their Saturday home games start at 5:35 because it gives people (mainly families) a chance to enjoy the afternoon downtown then get home at a reasonable time so you don't feel like your whole night is already over.
There is some validity to the traffic reasons, but it's also very possible that the west coast games start at 7:30 because of TV reasons but I'm not sure. Ducks home games almost always start at 7 locally but it was 7:30 when we were there because of a TV conflict (That's what a Ducks fan told me). There are tons of teams out there sharing the same stations in each market and I think that affects the start times. Or has the ability to. There are plenty of teams in the league that regularly start at 7:30 in their local market (Detroit, Chicago, Florida off the top of my head. I think Carolina, Montreal and Washington do too). It may be an annoyance for people out east to be up for 30 extra minutes when their team plays on the west coast but it just is what it is. The league isn't going to force those teams to change their start times for people out here that quite honestly aren't even going to notice.
If he steals this one he will be jailed for gran larceny.
This is the perfect place to put Mason in. There is nothing that would indicate the preds will even be in the game. Short of a outbreak of the plague effecting the entire Sharks team this is going to be embarrasing.
Yeah if we lose we lose to the best team in the league, but if we win we are the team that snaps the streak. It'll certainly give us confidence if we do manage to get a win.
Austin Watson had 8 shots for the Ads last night. Here's hoping the Preds can get that many in the first 2 periods. I would be ecstatic if the Preds could get 23 shots in the game, which is as many as the Ads had in the 3rd period last night.
It would be a very Pred thing of us to just suck horribly for 7 games then go into a 7-0 team's building and somehow win, subsequently sending these boards into a frenzy of hypocrisy and false hope, only to go repeat the cycle in St. Louis next.
