Aside from the obvious, honorable mentions to Halpern and Staal
Halpern was flying and Staal stayed really solid

So important to have a #6 that can take a regular shift. Girardi led the defence in TOI with a reasonable 25:21. No 30+ nights for our top D's.

This was the 2011-2012 Rangers.

Biron was more than solid. Hagelin-Stepan-Pyatt looked great. Nash’s goal literally brought me out of my seat.

“Quiet beast” award winners: Halpern, Staal, Boyle

They played their best late in the 3rd after the 3rd goal. No excuses. Like there were no excuses for looking like **** in our second game of back to backs.

I liked the way McDonagh was making it a point to throw MSL around every time they came together. That's how you need to handle little players, make them pay for it. Loved his aggression tonight.

It's still early in the season, but one difference is that they have Matt Carle and Sami Salo playing defense instead of Brett Clark, Matt Gilroy and Bruno Gervais.

But the team started hot and won't sustain the scoring pace they've had in the early start over a full 48 games.

lol it's too positive. If you want to avoid spoilers you should leave the extra title out and just have "PGT Rangers @ blabla"

we've been bad to start the season and had to play some really tough teams to get out of the gate and we have 4 ROT wins out of the 8. no worry for me.

Every PGT needs an "edition".

Eh I thought the Lightning got away with a lot of trips and stuff too. Refs let a lot of stuff go tonight

Makes up for the Pittsburg game?

Honestly though, we got away with one and other than that the refs were neutral and just let the boys play. imo

I'm liking the way we're using the d. Staal and MDZ, who have been the better 2 always out against top lines, and McD and G playing more total, splitting their time with lesser lines

Excellent effort, the team seemed to have a lot more cohesion in their game. Great forechecking, their defense was great, and they just played a disciplined, smart game.

3 stars:

Hagelin
Stepan
Biron

HM: Halpern, Nash

Good game tonight. Nash screwed up on the PK, but made it up with that beauty of a goal.
Second line played great.

Stamkos is amazing. Hopefully he stays in Tampa for a long time.

McDonagh in the second:

He did play a great 1st and 3rd period, though.
