Nuge missed 20 games in total last year. did Gagner center for those games or not?
You're the one that questioned how he could do well yet the team finished 29th. It is possible for a team to have players that 'do well' and still finish last ya know.
Turris but it's close...that trade really saved his career.
There's something wrong in the development system in Phoenix (probably $$$) when Turris comes here, the Sens say they need to get him in the gym, he gets in the gym for the summer and comes back skating noticeably better and he says Ottawa's strength coach brought up some things like stability and explosiveness that they hadn't thought of before. Um, stability and explosive athletic training is like standard for hockey players and finding a players athletic deficiencies isn't rocket science.

well that's probably more about turris individually than any organizational thing. Turris finally got serious about it and realized all the things he never worried about before. It's always been like this, guys have to take it seriously themselves before anyone else can help them.
horcoff centered them for a while there, renney wasnt the greatest coach...also many players have been on bad teams and done well
It was Gagner centering Hall and Eberle and he looked good while on the top line. He played 22 games as the Oilers 1st line center and had 6 goals/17 points in 22 games(not including the 8 point night. It was actually 10 goals/25 points in 23 games) which is a 22 goal/62 point pace.
I noticed Sens fans got pretty quiet in this thread.Turris as a number 1 center since Spezza went down has been meh , Gagner keeps plugging away, yup up there with Tavares Datsyuk in scoring race, Made a beautifull effort on pk getting puck out of zone than capping off a great no look backhanded pass for game winner.

Gagner has had his issues with consistency, so don't forget that. It's only a matter of time before the Oil faithful scream for him to be traded again. Not that turris is any better with consistency. Turris isn't a first line center but he has done his part and more so far this season, leads the team in points.
I think the thread died cause after a while it getting boring brining up the same things over and over.
This is the same Sam Gagner that opened last season with 2 points in 12 games and then finished the season with 5 points in 16 games, right?

I like Turris but Gagner gets underated huge, and Was expecting Turris to step up better than he has, Sens offence has dried up since Spezza has gone down.

The offense has taken a bit with just 15 goals in 7 games but I don't think you place that on Turris. What did you expect the sens to continue to produce at a 3+GF/g rate?
What happens when Sam gagner goes on a streak of 2 points in 12 games? Then he has 15 points in 24 games. That's the same old Sam Gagner you and me know.

Well its a big change going from being a 2nd line c playing softer opp and defence pairings then playing 1st line c facing top d pairings, and when the opposition is keying in on shutting down Spezza it makes it a little easier for other lines to produce. Spezza is more valuable than just points.

Ill say it again, I don't think you place the fact that Ottawas production has taken a hit on Turris. He leads the team in points and has 5 points in the 7 games without Spezza. Maybe look at the guys who are replacing turris. Smith, Da Costa, etc. Even if Spezza didnt get injured the offense was destined to dry up. They were producing over 3 goals a game.

Yes Gagner keeps plugging away for now but lets break down last season for Sam Gagner
2011-2012
Games 1-13: 2pts
Games 14-34: 18pts
Games 35-40: 0pts
Games 41-52: 20pts
Games 52-75: 7pts
You look through out his career and find similar results. I said it at the begining of the thread he has consistency issues. Turris is no different. How do you think the rest of the season will go for Sam Gagner?

Check who his line mates were during those slumps. Last year he started the season on the third line on the right wing with Belanger and Paajarvi. When given quality wingers Gagner has always put up points.

He is playing with better players now, he is not being played like a 3rd line centre like he was last year and has been in the top 2 where he can perform well and succeed. He was the #1 center against Columbus and scored 2 points after the combo breaker against the Wings. There really is no debate, as of right now Gagner is outplaying and out producing Turris and might i add more versatile as well.

Yes linemates are the reason Gagner is a 0.6 ppg player and not a 1.0 ppg player.

What arbitrary game selections.
13 games..then 20...then...5? Then 11 then 25. You can take any player and manipulate stats like that, which you just did.
