I asked Bruce Berlet of the Courant about some of the Pack players and Marvin Degon is a signed player with a NHL contract for next season

If Bruce said it, then it's good enough for me

Hmm...one of my posters over at OTG came up with this...

Hartford Courant March 31, 2006

But Degon has taken advantage of his opportunity after signing an amateur tryout contract for this season and an AHL deal for next after UMass didn't qualify for the Hockey East playoffs.

So how much do you think Rachunek is gonna get, since it seems he's signed in principle.

The Rangers qualified all of their group II's except Rory Rawlyk

NEW YORK RANGERS
Marcel Hossa, Bryce Lampman, Dominic Moore, Jed Ortmeyer, Thomas Pock, Michal Rozsival, Fedor Tyutin

Group III's
Christian Dube, Ales Pisa, Tom Poti, Dale Purinton, Steve Rucchin, Martin Rucinsky, Martin Straka, Jason Strudwick, Ronnie Sundin, Petr Sykora

Turns out Purinton was in the last season of his contract in 2005-06.The third year was probably a team option. In the December 2004 NHLPA 24% rollback proposal,Purinton was listed as a signed player for 2006-07

Group VI
Fedor Fedorov, Alexandre Giroux, Martin Grenier, Joe Rullier, Martin Sonnenberg, Chad Wiseman

in retaining. Gherson may have some value for Charlotte.

were out of their minds. What I'm amazed at he how Sather really played it smart.
You know he was either really tempted, or the prssure from Dolan was removed and Slats acted more like the old Slats from a small market team. There are just some really awful contracts in that list. What is truly puzzling is besides Slats abstaining, where was Milbury?

Which team had the worst UFA signings last year?

for when the age is ripe and the players are in their prime. Then you strike and rip off a stud for nothing. The UFA age goes down each year. The timing could be perfect for us in 2-3 years.

*** we still had Dube and Sundins rights all this time??? They could have helped the Pack more than Fedor Fedorov and Joe Rullier who did not wanna be there

99% sure that MacIntyre is no longer under contract...and it appears that Degon isn't under yet, so perhaps they are yet to sign him to that NHL contract.

Actually he probably should be more pissssssed that the league didn't introduce the crackdown on interference earlier...might have made more difference

I got that list directly from Bruce.Except for Girardi and Bahensky which I added, the rest is exactly the same list.MacIntyre's name wasn't on the official NHL free agent list and the Rangers announced his signing last summer so you would assume he is/was on a NHL contract last season

Interesting note...I heard directly from Don Maloney that a player like Staal who has a contract but has not yet turned pro, does not count against 50 contract limit.

Actually he was re-signed last summer after already having completed his first contract. I don't see why the Rangers would have signed him to a two year contract, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

interestingly an entry level contract for a player signed out of the CHL, doesn't kick in until they join the "pros", so I guess that is why it doesn't count. But thanks for that, I was wondering how they could over 50 players signed.

Qualifying offers automatically expire at 5pm New York Time on July 15.Teams could request an extention for a new fixed date at their sole discretion in writing to the NHL central registry and NHLPA.If the group II's don't accept their QO's by Saturday, the club is allowed to take the QO off the table and offer the player less money
