During the Habs vs Sabres game this afternoon, a lot of different penalties were called in a short time span, and at some point they played 36 seconds of 3 on 3 (during which there was like three back to back 2 on 1 and a breakaway, crazy!). I'm now a fan of a 3 on 3 OT after the 4 on 4 but anyway, I came to wonder if anyone remembers a longer 3 on 3?
Scott Niedermayer scored his second goal of the game 55 seconds into overtime, Brendan Morrison got the tying goal early in the third period, and the Ducks rallied twice to beat the Flames 3-2 on Wednesday night.
But the Anaheim captain ended the proceedings with a short backhander past Kiprusoff's glove after getting a lead pass from Todd Marchant in tight quarters. The goal, which changed direction off the stick of defenseman Dion Phaneuf, came with the teams skating 3-on-3 following coincidental roughing penalties against Chris Kunitz and Calgary's Cory Sarich at the end of regulation.
