Against Chicago, this I like.

The only weakness is if TMac is tempted to use Marleau, JT, or Pavs on the PK vs Toews, Sharp, and Hossa.

I hope he can figure out a PK rotation that doesn't burn out our top-6.

Don't look now, but Demers got more SHTOI than Murray tonight. He played a really solid 19 minutes, considering he hasn't played hockey in a month.

Vlasic-Demers
Stuart-Braun
Irwin-Boyle

Make it so.

Also, I actually liked Sheppard today.

Well a SO loss to Nashville is better than a loss to the Ducks.

Thought Boyle was really bad tonight. At least 3 times he couldn't hold the puck in the zone on the power play. PP definitely misses Burns.

outright choked here. i know ya cant win em all but my heart sank when pavs missed in the shootout...

if the pp can start getting a goal a game again (or more) we are VERY dangerous.

Niemi has been sick, PK im very impressed - gutsy kill in OT there (made me proud)

PP just has to breakthrough, Clowe has to get his **** together (even tho he had chances tonight), The big boys have come down to earth again now (sadly), we need Burns back and then we're laughing.

Can we at least all agree that once Burns comes back this whole using a forward like Pavs on the point for the PP is ridiculous? When you have Boyle, Burns, Braun, Demers, and even Stuart, there is no need for Pavs at the point. You can just have him on the 1st PP unit (or 2nd, whatever floats your boat).

Pros:
Niemi
The Defence
Penalty Kill

Cons:
Bottom 6 Scoring
Havlats mishap
Questions continue to build against Ryan Clowe

One has to think that Niemi won't play like this forever, and it's occured to me that we are playing Burish an awful lot of money to play Desi/Sheppard minutes.

Burish blows. He seems like a nice enough dude, but he does absolutely nothing. He's a null offensive player, he has no hands or hockey sense at all, and he's like the 6th forward option on the PK.

Speaking of the PK, Desy had a phenomenal game on the penalty kill. I'd be in favor of increasing his minutes there.

He's been more physical than Murray for the last ~2 seasons. Murray is too slow to do anything.

I still can't believe they gave him 1.8 mill. He's a 4th line Winchester type player who you pay 800-900k to.

Its not even scoring, they arent even generating any chances...They're pretty much just warm bodies thrown out there so that the top 6 can rest.

Time to just cut the BS and go with:
2nd line:
Couture-Gomez-Havlat

1st PP unit:
Marleau-Thornton-Pavs
Stuart-Boyle

2nd PP unit:
Couture-Gomez-Havlat
Demers-Braun

Couldn't agree more.

Yah I dont get the Burish thing, he's worthless. Sheppard looks pretty damn good out there though, I have a feeling if he didn't have Clowe on his line there he'd be really creating some offense.

The wierd thing is Burish doesn't even agitate, what's with agitators coming to the Sharks and ceasing utterly to agitate. Hell we had Claude Lemieux, and he didn't do a damn thing as a Shark. Nieminen sucked too...

Galiardi looks almost useless too, might as well have re-signed Torrey Mitchell.

I wouldn't consider Gomez one of their bottom 6 players, either. He actually has a couple points....

1st PP unit with Stuart on it? Wut.

When The Great 88 comes back, maybe we can talk.

Burish has looked good on the PK and in his own end.

I'd like to see him hit more and drive the net, though.

Yeah, it's just sad. At least Murray used to be able to do that reverse-hit thing, but he can't even do that anymore. I appreciate what Douglas has done for this team, but he needs to go.

We can also throw the "XXX won't play physical because they're afraid of taking a penalty" thing out the window since the PK has been great.

Agreed on Shep. Maybe Shep-Couture-Havlat, Clowe-Gomez-Galiardi/Wingels?

He had a pretty average game today, but I wouldn't say he's been bad. At least he's shown he could create offensive chances, unlike Burish, Desjardins, and Wingels.

That's what I was thinking as well.
Sheppard - Couture - Havlat
Clowe - Gomez - Galiardi
Desjardins - Handzus - Burish/Wingels

Sometimes I forget that this team has only been together 8 games. It's possible that we will see more from the new guys as the season wears on. Right now though burish is looking like a salary black hole.

Just got back from HP. Here's my thoughts:

-Murray is literally a human ball and chain. Everyone he plays with is literally tied down to him. The penalties he took were not good. His best play of the night was the block in OT. Basically, Irwin should play over him next game.
-McLellan needs to stop juggling the lines every 5 seconds. No one is building any chemistry because of this. Gomez & Havlat should have been playing with Couture, and yet they were stuck with Handzus most of the time, who killed most their opportunities. Letting lines stay relatively stable would seriously help out the team.
-Sheppard and Galiardi had unspectacular, solid games.
-Demers, when not with Murray, looked pretty good. Rusty from sitting for a while, but good nonetheless.
-Niemi is basically the reason for picking up the point.
-Clowe continues to disappoint. He makes poor decisions and is barely faster than Murray and Zus. He needs to either drop a line or be moved for someone who better fits Couture/Havlat.
-PK continues to be exceptional. PP has cooled off way too much.

Overall, I'm just happy to be 7-0-1 at this point. Could be much worse.
