I think Rattie's had a productive year in junior. He made Team Canada a year after being cut and had a pretty good WJC and in Portland, while he still has a very good supporting cast, you don't hear the chatter about Rattie being a byproduct of Sven Bartschi anymore.

I was just commenting that Rattie's at the point of his development where there's nothing really to be gleaned from analyzing his game to game stat-sheet. He's going to pile up the points in Portland. We know that.

He's ready for the next step and those that have seen him live and online more than I made the case for why he should be a good pro player.

Rattie with another goal tonight.

I really like Nic Petan of the Winterhawks. 90 points in his 51 games this season (& +53 ), but his size is likely going to see him slip on draft day. Way too much skill to drop out of the first round, and his future might not lie at C but I'd certainly like to see us take a risk on him.

Good luck to him, but it isn't really a surprise.

Our picks from the second round under Jarmo just never seemed to pan out, with the obvious exception of Backes (taken at 62). Jake Allen might still make it as well.

Anyway, Jaškin picked up another assist last night in a 2-1 OT win. Lehterä had 2 goals and an assist in a 7-1 demolition of rivals Novokuznetsk.

Apparently.

There's an "interesting" discussion about Tesink's condition on the QMJHL board, in the "Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 12/13" thread, starting with THIS post...

Meh on Wannstrom. Perhaps Dmitrij Jaskin, who is tearing up the QMJHL ill add was a 2nd round pick in 2011 pans out.

Jaskin was taken by Armstrong, not Jarmo. I, too, always wondered why Jarmo did so poorly in the 2nd round but so great in the 1st.

I think it is because he made overly "safe" picks. Safe doesn't allow for much potential improvement. The Kana and McRae picks always seemed to be "what you see is what you get".

I remember when they took Basil McRae's son in 2008 and it seemed to be a reach even though Phillip McRae has more skill then his old man.

My bad.

Anyway, starting with Armstrong's picks of Jaskin and Kurker, it would be nice to see some hits on 2nd rounders.

2Nd round picks are so tough to get solid nhler players from just a toss up with them. Also I think Peoria isn't a good place for our prospects to developed seems like lately the players are regressing while there.

I saw miami crush alaska this weekend... But i tell ya guys... there's something about parayko that I just really like. I can see him as a future 3rd pair dman whose solid in his own zone and can make that quick first pass out of the zone.

You certainly can't complain about his freshman year. Parayko, Kurker, and Schmaltz have all had encouraging starts.

Man, we're stacked in goal for years.

Jaro Halak and Elliott aint exactly old, and in the pipeline we have Jake Allen, Jordan Binnington and Nik Lundström.

Very impressed w/ Lundström. After taking over as the go-to guy for Sweden in this years WJC, he has started quite a few games for AIK in the Swedish Elite League, and he's been just fine in those games. That's a good league, with big boys coming after you. And since we have a few other good young goalies he could stay there and develop another year or two.

Does Karpowich still belong to our organization?

Karpowich plays for the Evansville Icemen, our new ECHL affiliate. He is only signed through this season as an RFA.

He's had a decent tradition to the pro level but has had some struggles as a starter. He was very good at Clarkson U. so I'm willing to give him another year to see how he progresses.

So I've seen this in 3 threads now...what the heck does this mean?!?? A city is keeping players from developing?? Are you talking about the Rivermen organization? Rivermen are owned by the Blues...the GM and coaching staff are picked by the Blues. Also the coaching staff has changed often, so its not some on-going coaching culture in Peoria.

If you are talking about the city, please explain your theory on the correlation to development. If you are talking about the organization, shouldn't the comment be the Blues aren't good at developing prospects.

More likely its that good draft picks like Backes and Polak developed well in Peoria and poor picks like Ponich and Schwarz (the goalie) didn't develop further.

Its most defiinitely a knock on the orginization and not the city itself, I think a lot of people are just confused as to why a lot of our prospects lately that have been there either seem to hit a wall developmentally or have actually regressed.
