but... but generally they weren't considered as generational talents, i'd say "just two among many superstar calibre centers: Yzerman, Fedorov, Modano, Sundin, Lindros, Francis, Niewendyk, LaFontaine, Oates, Turgeon, etc". At present both Crosby and Malkin are hyped as generational talents. They both have been ranked higher than Datsyuk, Giroux, Stamkos, Lecavalier, E.Staal, Backstrom, H.Sedin and others.
Crosby's health issues and Malkin's streakyness (which is minimal but still there) i take Sakic Forsberg. At their best Pens duo is probably bit better but Sakic's unreal ability to deliver on constant basis take this for me.

lol. Crosby is more consistent than Sakic everyday and twice on sunday.
Two of them had Jagr, Lemieux, Gretzky, Hull, Yzerman, Fedorov, etc to compete with for those awards and the other two have who exactly?
i am tired of this BS about talent being better in -90. I give you Lemieux and maybe Jagr but Gretzky was past his prime and Hull, Yzerman, Fedorov wasnt any better than what we have today.
Hull was a better goal scorer than anyone Crosby/Malkin have to go against ever since Ovy's gotten fat and useless. Still Jagr and Mario blow everyone else away and if not for those two the Avs duo would have some art rosses to their name.
First of all I'm not your buddy, secondly get back to me when either Crosby or Malkin win the Hart, come 2nd in Art Ross race (Jagr can thank Mario for that trophy), 2nd in Rocket Richard race to one of the best goalscorers of all times in Bure and come 2nd in Selke voting like Joe. Malkin and Crosby are on par or even better than the Avs duo offensively, but Joe and Foppa were so much better defensively that they blow Malkin and Crosby out of the water.
Lets not get carried away buddy. Crosby Malkin>Sakic Forsberg lol.
In terms of offensive talent, Crosby + Malkin > Sakic Forsberg.
In terms of defensive talent, Forsberg + Sakic > Crosby + Malkin
In terms of respect around the league, Sakic + Forsberg > Crosby + Malkin
In terms of *****ing, crying, and tantrums, Crosby + Malkin >>>>> Sakic + Forsberg
I'll take Forsberg + Sakic given the respect they commanded from their teammates and the league, defensive prowess, and clutch factor. And they weren't slouches offensively.

I think Crosby COULD be more consistent than Joe. But the fact remains, he has had over 100 games missed due to injuries. By consistency i ment that Joe was playing more games.
Crosby at his best, is probably the best player of this group. But he has had so much trouble playing for last 3 seasons that i count Joe better. This far. Crosby can change my opinion in few years. But it seems that he is going to fall short.
Foppa was no angel, he was feared, not loved around the league and Stamkos is better than Hull as an all-round player, but Hull was the better goalscorer without a doubt.
Oh and yes Yzerman, Fedorov, prime Selanne, prime Karyia, Lindros, Bure were better than what we're watching today and that's without talking about defensemen (Bourque, MacInnis, Pronger, Lidstrom, Leetch etc) and goalies (Hasek, Roy etc).
That being said, Stamkos is fast pulling himself in the same realm with Brett Hull. Goal scoring wise. overall Stammer leaves Hull to the dust.
I still would take Burnaby Joe and Foppa before Malkin/Crosby. But it definitely is close. Malkin and Crosby both have higher upside and when they are on their best behaviour they are better. I just find it hard to take Jagr over Sakic (But i would) let alone young stars who have not proved their legacy yet.

surely you jest. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you are what, 17? Crosby's best season was 120 points. In that same season, Joe was 38 and put up 100 points and the same amount of goals. Grow up. Sakic was 20 years older and putting up the same production Crosby had in his prime.
It's really the end of the argument
