Correlation does not mean causation. Did you see the goaltending versus the Isles as well as all the giveaways? Fayne isn't going to stop that. You're making it sound like Fayne has never been in a blowout before and insinuating that the lack of Fayne is the reason why Devils lost which is absolutely untrue. Having him back will not make a difference if most of the other Devils continue to play poorly.
I never said Fayne was the reason we lost. where did I say that?
also Marty has not been particularly good the past 2 games but he has not been THAT bad either. I can think of 4-5 goals which were not his fault whatsoever.
I think the only really BAD goal he's had all year was vs the Isles the other night when he came way out to challenge and pulled himself out of position.

Was that Bertuzzo goal tipped? He didn't look really screened and the puck stayed on the ice.
I was on the other end of the rink tho so it was hard to see. Essentially the whole game was played on the other end of the ice... =/
big Setoguchi Fan here...i would like getting him.
maybe min would be in for a trade with volch?
Don't think Min would want to or be able to take on Volch's contract. Tallinder for Seto makes sense to me. Both have 1 more year on their deal with similar cap hits. Setoguchi just hasn't seemed to fit in Minnesota and with Parise, Granlund additions he's probably expendable.

got a point there. but i would more probalby give Volch away than Tally :/

Devils need two big physical wingers with some skill and the ability to control the boards. The first and most ideal "type" in my mind would be someone like Ryan Malone or maybe someone a less valuable like David Jones in Colorado. Regardless of the the names the Devils need some size, strength and fisteyness especially along the boards.

This is exactly how I feel. I'd like to add a Kopecky/Ponikarovsky/Zubrus or two. Clowe/Malone would be ideal, for their extra scoring touch, but they're harder to come by.
Agreed with big wingers post. Devils need great, physical puck possession player with good defensive awareness. In short: Ponikarovsky.

We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Alexei Yashin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.
Ideally, I'd like both Elias and Josefson to have a speedy winger on one side and a big body on the other.
Zubrus fulfills the big body role for one line, Clarkson does to an extent for another.
It just seems like, by using the dump and chase, a lot of the forwards are losing the race to the pucks - hence not even being able to set up way too many times in a game.
Kings were able to dismantle the forecheck in the Final by using quick, short passes out of the zone. Despite being a system based on board battles... gotta start being faster to the puck more often than not.
And Anisimov would be even a better fit, as he`s not only big, strong and defensively responsible, but also skilled. And he`s finally starting to show what he`s capable of. Half season in the KHL did him wonders. That said, Columbus won`t move their biggest offensive weapon (yikes haha), despite his RFA status. At least not now when they still have some chance of making the POs, even though it`s a slight one.
As for Laich I must agree with what has been said, plus he`s injured (groin). I was just surprised he went unnoticed.
