I was actually just thinking about any injuries that might've happened during the Flyers game. We blocked like 26 shots, someone is bound to get something injured

Roy Cummings ‏@RCummingsTBO
Lightning D Brendan Mikkelson said he's a little sore but experiencing no headaches or wooziness after head-first fall into boards Thurs.
https://twitter.com/RCummingsTBO

Quote:
Mikkelson said he "dodged a bullet" when he crashed head- and shoulder-first into the end boards during Thursday's practice.

Mikkelson, who is day-to-day, said all tests performed at Tampa General Hospital (an X-ray and a CT scan) were negative. He said he has no headaches and is nothing more than sore and stiff.

Mikkelson said he isn't sure whether he got his skates tangled up with those of Steven Stamkos as they raced after a puck or if he just "blew a tire."

Either way, Mikkelson said he never before hit the boards that hard and believes he was unconscious for a few seconds. When he came to he said he was "gasping for air" as the wind was knocked out of him. Of the collision, he said, "The guys told me it was pretty solid."

Lightning's Vinny Lecavalier says x-rays on left foot were negative, though he will have an MRI exam today as a precaution.

An MRI is capable of showing a sprain/strain or even minor tear to a ligament/tendon and inflammation as well. The XRay would only show gross bony deformity and it's good that he's negative- but we're not out of the woods.

Just what Vinny needed, yet another (freak) injury. With only seconds left, Salo shoots the puck, it deflects off of Boyle's skates and hits Vinny...

Don't know if good news or bad we didn't really need this.

CROMBEEN UPDATE: Right wing B.J. Crombeen, who left Tuesday's game after his first-period fight with the Flyers' Zac Rinaldo, is cleared to play. It was unclear if he would be in the lineup against the Devils.

For the sake of completeness:
Quote:
Ryan Malone was a late scratch from Sunday's game with a lower body injury. Malone actually sustained the ailment while kicking around a soccer ball with his teammates before the game. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Steve Yzerman does not consider injury to Malone long term issue, something he'd been battling, flared up during pregame warmups
Quote:
Yzerman was coy in describing the issue but if I was able to read between the lines, would guess it's muscular issue (groin, thigh, etc) IMO
Quote:
Should claify, Malone hurt himself in the warmup games some players do before warmups, so the warmup warmups, if you will

Every year it's something with him. Sorry to say the way he has been playing he won't be missed.
