So he can justify playing "Dude Looks like a Lady" in his room.
uh yea. thats it. its the game. he he. its not me putting on lipstick like steve buscemi in billy madison. http://youtu.be/jMo_HcRBnUY. its not that at all.
another great game. he looks so much faster & more focused & calm
Before this season, I would've thought it absurd to say in a 5-3 game that "the goalie stole this one for the Flyers", but that statement is absolutely true. The Flyers were generally outworked, outplayed, outshot, etc. in this game just like they have been all year, and the goalie... OUR GOALIE... was the difference.
Wow it feels weird to say that after all these years of goalie issues
I had no doubts he was going to bounce back this year. Tough year on dude. He didn't even have a house last year in the area. That's tough on somebody with a family to take care of. Especially being in a crackpot sports media crazed market.
Bryz's play has been excellent this season that is for sure, but does anyone else feel like anytime there is a breakaway it's an automatic goal? I know that's the case a lot of the time but I really wish Bryz would just steal one of them. This isn't a knock on him at all, the breakaways he has faced have looked more like penalty shots.

dude, it is a knock on him but yea i agree it would put an exclamation point on how good he's been in some of these games.

he had some great breakaway saves [last vs CAL comes to mind]
NHL breakaways that don't go in the net, are the exception in my view.
Bryz had nowhere else to go but up after last season. Those that did the typical Philly panic after 1 season of a goalie in a new system with ridiculous fluctuation in personnel are rather quiet right now. Let the freaking guy breathe a little and see what he does before the "LOL buy him out and sign Luongo" crap.

you mean after 6 games last year was too soon to bail ??
ooops, i promised no talk about last year ..... argh
agreed, he got blamed for the hard to save goals against, because he underperformed elsewhere.
this year, he's getting the benefit of the doubt.
hes playing better this year then last year.
Hes not getting any benefit of the doubt. This year hes been our best player. Last year he wasnt. But lets not go down that road.

i completely agree with everything.
except: "Hes not getting any benefit of the doubt."
sure he is. he's not getting skewered for every goal against this year. breakaways, screens & deflection goals are ALL happening, but very few people [if any] are harping on them ... his overall play & being the best Flyer so far, has earned him a pass in my view.

Maybe it has to do he isnt carring that GAA north of 3 and the save percentage under .900. His overall game is much better then last year. this year he looks focused both mentally and physically. I dont think that was the case last year for the most part.

he is playing better, clearly. and along with that, he's not getting killed for the screened shot goals, breakaway goals & deflection goals .... there have been a fair number of each this year
It's also worth noting that while it's great that we're getting the goaltending expected when he was signed, the contract is still really bad.
I would agree with this generally. However, there were so many people incensed about the contract that they jumped ship earlier than they might have otherwise.
After next season, regardless of his play over the next 120 or so games, it's going to be very, very hard not to want to amnesty him because we'll still have 6 more years of that cap hit and he'll likely be looking at worse years, not better with a full NMC.
