Leipsic, Aberg, Vesey, Beck, Latta, Watson, and Sissons are all looking like typical Predators: great two way players who can pitch in offensively.

I'm ready to take shot at a guy who has tons of offensive talent, but maybe lacks size or two-way game, or even attitude issues. We have enough character guys, let's take a risk.

Leipsic has 81 points in 46 games in the WHL and Aberg has 29 points in 43 games in the Allsvenskan. Not typical Predator picks. Sissons, Latta, Salomaki, Watson are typical Preds though.

Leipsic could be a huge pickup for us if he can translate his game.

Anyone else looking forward to a projected battle or Leipsic v. Sissons in the WHL semifinal?

(Leipsic: 90 pts in 50 games)

(Sissions: 51 pts in 44 games)

Tootoo had 71 and 74 point years in the WHL. Leipsic could be really good, but he's playing with great linemates in a mediocre league. I'm tempering expectations til he lights up the AHL

In case you are wondering about Leipsic's line:

Petan: 93 pts, 53GP, 1.75 pts per game
Leipsic: 90 pts, 50 GP, 1.8 pts per game
Rattie: 73 pts, 44 GP, 1.66 pts a game

BUT, it's the Edmonton Oil Kings who are destroying their division. Nearest rival is 11 pts back

Has he been with Petan all year? Could have sword he was with Rattie and another 1st/2nd rounder, but I could have imagined that.

I have hope for the guy to be sure, I'm just not crowning him as a top six forward because of one good year in juniors. I'd rather set low expectations and be surprised than assume too much of the kid.

Agreed I did the same thing with Beck. Looking a Portland's roster is like a all-star jr's team Jones, Pouliot, Petan, Rattie, Rutkowski. 3 of the 4 top scoring forwards and 3 of the top 6 Defensmen.

Geeze, two guys I have been excited about; Aburg and Salomaki, haven't been exactly impressive so far (based on stats alone).

Yeah but Aberg has been switching from the lower level team and the big club.

Superelit: 3GP, 1G, 3A

Allsvenskan: 43GP, 10G, 19A

Also he's 19 yrs old. In his age group he's doing well.

Another note, CHL players who will be 20 this year and can play in AHL: Brent Andrews, Simon Karlsson, Colton Sissons. Zach Budish has played 4 years but has more redshirts than an episode of Star Trek. He is technically a redshirt Junior but he's almost a pt per player guy on the #2 team in the nation.

Another player to watch for Jimmy Vesey. let me quote myself. "Ok, he's added 3 games, and 4 goals. WHAT!!"

The last year we had 3 4th round picks? 2009. Craig Smith, Mattias Ekholm, and Nick Oliver. Me likey. Poile seems to do well in the mid-rounds, so I like having lots of 4ths and 5ths.

Lots of time left to prove themselves. I expect Beck to finish the year on the team. Latta and perhaps Watson to push for a spot the following year.

Åberg started slow but has been very good lately.

In 2013 he has played 11 games, 4 goals, 11 assists and 15 points total and is +5 in these 11 games

The only one who might be able to match this is Alexander Wennberg (2013 eligible). He hasen't scored 15 points but Wennberg has played less games since he played in the WJCs

Do you think Aberg's stats might be inflated due to playing in Allsvenskan as opposed to playing in Elitserien? I know it's still a good league, but it's definitely below the SEL.

On the other hand, playing in a lesser league might be better for him since he'll be able to keep up and develop his skills properly.

BFC999: Nice work. I did spot one tiny flaw. The Cincinnati goalie name is Hetenyi

Beck and Latta need to not get benched in-game if they want to get called up this season. That game last Friday was embarrassing.

Well, I'm far from an expert. But yeah for sure he wouldn't score as many points if he played Elitserien(the difference is not super big but it is quite big, I think the top teams (maybe top 3 or 4) of Allsvenskan would be able to compete with the bottom two in Elitserien over a season of 55 games). But no matter what, if we play Allsvenskan or manage to advance back to Elitserien again till next season I really hope he stays. A bit worried that Nashville rather have him in AHL than another year in Allsvenskan though..
