If there were 4 stars given instead of 3, Nodl might have gotten #4. He was all over tonight, energetic, defensive, chippy, fast. He played a GREAT game. Clearing waivers makes lots of guys better, for some reason.

I'm pretty sure Anderson should have one far before Nodl...

I kinda like Nodl and LaRose on the 4th line. Makes me feel like we could really roll a good unit there if we could upgrade Brent.

Sutter scored before Boychuk.

Sutter from Crosby and Malkin at even strength?

Crosby just got out of the box after taking a tripping penalty.

Oh, that makes tons of sense. Not watching the game, obviously. I just glanced at the boxscore to see how the game was going and saw that.

Boychuk looked really good today. Took lots of shifts with both Malkin and Crosby lines and didn't seem out of place on either.

Still dunno if he's a long term solution, but definitely was better than expected.

You guys just want to give us your 2013 1st round pick now instead of in a few years?

Well, we could certainly use a third line center. I hear that you guys have one by the name of Brandon Sutter. Maybe we can start a deal involving Sutter and our first?

Just a friendly warning, but that's the quibble about Boychuk: he always "looked good" playing next to Eric Staal or with two of Skinner, Jokinen or Ruutu.

The problem is that it very rarely turned into actual points. It's why he was such a polarizing figure on this board.

Oh for sure. It's only one game.

Just hoping that a few more practices will work out some of the X's and O's. Definitely noticed him and Malkin tended to gravitate towards the same spots on the ice which lumped things up.

I fully expect him to be a good player w/ the space Malkin will create for him

Dude, you need to let them make the pick before trading. If you give the pick to Shero, he`ll just find another PMD on the Portland Winterhawks.

Yeah I honestly hope he does do well for you guys. He hasn't looked out of place when given the opportunity next to Staal before, even in that debacle of a first game we had. But Tlusty's more proven there and brings a much better defensive presence to that line with only a slight dip in offensive ability so he'd get the nod over Boychuk time after time. I fully believe that he's capable in the right situation... Carolina just never became the right situation for him.

Psh, how I wouldn't mind another defenseman from the Winterhawks this year

Yeah but you're not getting our first. Not unless you send us this one guy, god I can't remember his name, but I think his uncles and dad played in the league.

hey maybe it's on the suitcase. Swinny? Sunny? Suter? Sutter? oh here it is, Samsonite. I was way off.

Sutter beat Brodeur when he tried a pad stacking save. Who is Cam Wards favourite goaltender?

That's right.

You had a perfectly good opportunity to throw in an ironic "Samsonov" and you let it slip away. tsk tsk

Pens fan here in peace.

Love the Dumb and Dumber reference. Hope Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey do another movie.

I was very impressed and glad to see that Boychuk was able to hang with Crosby and Malkin. If he sticks maybe we can return the favor and put Eric Tangradi on waivers once Matt Niskanen is healthy. How does that sound

Not sure about some of the others, but I've wanted him for some more sandpaper on the 3rd line for a while now. Surprised we didn't do a trade of scraps there to be honest. Neither player was a good fit despite both being talented enough to have a role in the league in some capacity.

Okay, if the Hurricanes were to be THAT bad (which I doubt), it would be hard to **** the pick up. Everything top3 I do not care who makes the pick.

Love watching Boychuk play. We could have gotten a steal with this kid. Early though.

Well if that's any indication, we'll never see him in a Checkers uniform again

Probable RIP Checkers chances of 2013 Calder Cup Championship.

Is this the same Boychuk that played for you guys? He might be our #3 overall winger behind Neal and Kunitz. Not the strongest guy on the puck but he showed great skill in the offensive zone. Regardless he seems like he deserves to play in the NHL. Curious to hear if any Canes fans watched the game this afternoon? Thoughts and opinions.
