Practice report 2/3-Gagne up, Penner down

Not that it's much of a surprise but at practice today, Gagne with Carter and Richards (where he belongs) on the 2nd line and Penner on the 5th line.

Gagne worked his way back and his skillset is much better offset by Carter and Richards. Gagne was also practicing with the 2nd PP unit.

KingsNewsDaily Penner you ask? Fifth line with Bodnarchuk!!! Yes you read that correctly. #LAKings

That's all fine and fluffy rainbows.

But Richards/Gagne and Kopitar have to start putting points on the board.

Richards looks like he is coming around, but Kopitar has been the worst top six guy the last three games.
Carter of all people, is the only freaking top six guy, that came ready to play this season.

Enough is Enough.

Seems about right, considering last night's performances.

No 33 in there at all. Guess he quit the team. :/

This team could use some Willie Mitchell

Joined by Fraser. Fraser had a great seat for most of the night to watch that horrid game.

Muzzin was a little shaky last night, as well. I would give Bordnachuk a chance. But Sutter won't.

Cleared by doctors, not by himself. Hasn't skated all week. So who knows?

So happy Gagne is finally getting to play with Carter and Richards. I've been wanting to see that.

As for Mitchell. I would love to see him back, but if he feels he can't play (whatever the reason may be), I'll respect his decision and just wait until he decides he is fully healed.

The crap thing is, once Mitchell is in, he'll probably be even more rusty than the still-rusty guys on the team who have had a half dozen games to play already.

We may really have to make a trade.

The good news is, I know for a fact that when this team is working, we can win at a 75% clip.

It's about time Gagne made his way to the second line. As for Mitchell, I trust that he'll come back when he's ready, he's been around long enough and understands that if he is still having issues, coming back early could be disasterous.

Can we finally call this failed experiment over and trade Penner? Outside of the 20 games in the playoffs last year, he has been absolutely terrible. We don't even need him now that we can go Brown/Gagne/King/Clifford down the LW. Just flip him for a pick and call it a day.

Or try and package him with Loki for a servicable winger or more depth d.
